Chapter 29

Becca POV

I barely got any sleep last night. All I could think about was the way his eyes locked onto mine, his lips pressing against mine, and the sensation of his hands on my body.

Ughh.

Get your head out of the gutter, Rebecca. I scolded myself. How could things escalate so quickly in just a span of seconds?

“Thanks so much for coming to visit,” the elderly Sister said with a smile.

“Thank you for having us. I’m really glad I met such lovely people like you,” I replied with a smile

“You’re always welcome here,”

“And you keep an eye on Bas for me. He tends to be strong-headed, but he’s a softie within,” she added, her gaze flickering to Bas briefly. I couldn’t help but notice the unreadable expression on his face, his jaw set firmly. Something was definitely off. Turning back to the Sister, I mustered a small smile, hoping to mask my unease.

“We should get going,” Bas said as he walked to the car.
