Chapter 80

BAS POV

I had intended to talk to her, to have a conversation about her growing closeness with my father and her reasons for the spy mission. But now, as she moved closer, I found myself unable to think clearly.

I thought I was strong enough to finally be in a room alone with her, but here I was, fighting every urge not to pull her into my arms. The plan was to keep my distance because being close to her made me crazy. But when she accused me of making her feel like a disease, my walls crumbled. I had never intended to make her feel that way. If only she knew how desperately I fought with myself not to pull her close and take her right here and now.

"I can see it, Bas...the eyes never lie," she whispered, her hands slowly running down my bicep. My body shivered at her touch, and I couldn't help but stifle a groan. She was driving me crazy, and I was about to lose control.
