Practicing with walking down the aisle was not pleasing to Hayley. Especially when Kenji is waiting for her at the end. His playful grin has had her scoffing all the time. She can't even believe she survived living with him for the past weeks.
"Hayley! Smile! It's your wedding! You can't be frowning like that in three days' time! Learn to smile!"
Aish, demanding damn coordinators! She had to force a big smile to please them. Her days have been like this, practicing the same old things and even the speeches-- scripted ones of course because just writing 'love' disgusts them both.
When she got to the altar, Kenji took her hand whispering something in her ear. It isn't surprising anymore, he does it every time to annoy her.
"Okay! So you both stand here while the priest does his things!"
They decided that it will be a church wedding. Hayley specifically told their parents she wants a church wedding. It isn't because she believes in holy matrimony, it's because annulling a church marriage is easier than a civil marriage. And so, both she and Kenji decided to go on with church wedding.
"Don't your conscience haunt you? You're standing in front of the altar just to lie," Kenji tells her as they wait for the staff to tell them what to do next.
"Well don't yours haunt you?"
"Luckily, I don't have the same belief as yours."
"One lie won't send me to hell."
Kenji let out a laugh that made Hayley throw him a death glare. What she said is true. God knows she is doing this for something greater. The children and Lucas need her and she wants to honor her promises.
After their practice at the church, they had their lunch with their parents. Though they lie an excuse, their parents insisted and they couldn't do anything.
In a private room of a Japanese restaurant, their Japanese-style lunch was served. Hayley was not familiar with the dishes but Kenji seems to enjoy them.
"I see that you've finally gotten a lot closer than you two first met," Mrs. Maledict, Shelby noticed.
It made Hayley stopped chewing her food to look at Kenji who was looking at her too. They both look away and chuckles nervously.
"We are going to marry each other in three days and lived together. I guess it's safe to say that we got along and your plans worked for us," Kenji stated, flashing a fake smile.
"We sorted out our differences and I think it will be a good marriage. Right, Ken?"
Kenji once again looked at Hayley and nodded, their eyes signaling a hidden message -- I hate you. It seems like Mr. and Mrs. Maledict were pleased to see them agree together. She glances at her parents and saw them smiling too. Look at that, she made them proud. Just three days and she won't be able to turn back anymore.
After their lovely lunch, their parents left and they instantly moved away from each other. Her smiles were also replaced with a disgusted look.
"You going home or are you hanging out with your boyfriend today?" Kenji suddenly questions.
"I don't have a boyfriend and it's none of your business where I go!"
"Do you think I need a haircut? I think my hair is kinda getting long. It's not good for our wedding picture."
Hayley scrunched up her face. Kenji looked good the way he is. Though his hair gets messy, he can just comb it with his fingers and he is good to go.
"Dude, your hair is fine. And who cares about the wedding pictures? It's not like we will hang it somewhere."
"I need to look good especially that day. I won't get married twice. It's an experience. You need fixing too, you don't look so lovely lately."
"I don't need fixing! And for your information, I am stressing out more than you do! I am walking that aisle with that heavy damn wedding gown! What if I fall?"
Kenji took steps closer to her and then suddenly touched her chin. In her surprise, she slapped his hand away, leaning backward with her brows knitted together.
"What the heck? Stop doing those moves to me! I won't fall for that!"
"I'm not trying to make you fall." He chuckles, staring at her. "But if you did, I will catch you."
"Eww! Stop acting like you like me! It doesn't suit you! We hate each other. Let's stay with the hate and hate!"
Hayley has put in a lot of time with Kenji already and she needs to get away so she walks past him. A chocolate cake would be nice for today. But before she gets far, a hand grabbed her arm making her turn. When she sees her annoying groom, she made a face.
"What? I need a chocolate cake. I'll see you at home!"
"I need that too," he said, flashing her a smile before running and dragging her along. "I know a place. You'll love their cake!"
As she was dragged, she felt everything in slow motion. And when Kenji looked back at her with a bright grin plastered on his face, for the first time, she understand why they say Kenji is charming. Her heart suddenly beats faster than when she is running.
At the shop, she keeps glaring at Kenji with her killer eyes, her lips were pouting. She doesn't hate him, she was hating how she felt earlier. She remembers her classmates squealing over their boyfriends and telling her they suddenly felt spring. It was like spring she felt earlier that's why she keeps glaring at him right now. Breathing heavily, she hits her chest a couple of times, grunting over how she felt.
Kenji frowned, taking her hand to stop her from hitting her chest. She coldly stares at him, raising her brow, eyeing him to let go.
"What the hell are you doing that for? And why do you keep glaring at me? Do you not like the chocolate cake?"
"Their chocolate cake is good but I do not like being with you!"
"Oh, come on! Tell me something I do not know. We both know we hate each other, already." He rested his elbows on the table, leaning forward. "We need to catch up since all we do the past few weeks is fight each other."
"And we will keep on hating and fighting each other. There's no need to be friendly, we're going our separate ways anyway." Hayley looked down, taking the fork to take some of her cake and stuff it in her mouth. Hmm, it is her second bite and she just realized how good the cake was. "This tastes really good!"
"Really?" he asked. "There's some chocolate icing on the corner of your mouth."
With the back of her hand, she wiped a corner of her mouth and continues to eat her cake. She heard him sigh but she didn't mind him anymore.
"Hayley."
Before glancing up, she scoffed. But as soon as she did, her eyes widened. All she could see was the sides of his face and she feels his tongue licking the corner of her mouth. When she snapped back, she moved her hand to slap him but Kenji was always quick and caught her wrist. As he move away, her wide eyes darted at him and his damn playful grin.
"That really tasted good."
After their long day, Hayley was still sulking at the other corner of their car. She was still mad from what Kenji did earlier and she didn't want to be touched. They were stuck in traffic, and it's even a long way home from the church they practiced at."I told you, it's just a practice. Don't tell me you didn't think we'd share a kiss after the priest announces, 'you may now kiss the bride'? You really think it's believable if I kiss you on the cheek?""I said don't talk to me, Ken doll. I'm really going to kill you!" she warns.Kenji glances at her for a moment and back in front. Hayley looked like she was going to eat him alive so he'll let her be for a while. Earlier at lunch, his father had given him a ring to give Hayley. That was why he had not let go of her and they ended up in that cake shop. In the end, he couldn't give the damn diamond ring.An engagement ring that costs a lot is necessary for their family's name, for the guests to see.
At the grand suite of the hotel, Hayley is being scolded while the make-up artist does her make-up. Although Cassandra is being loud, she could not hear her mother. All she thinks about was how she forgot it was her birthday, how her mother has not greeted her but Kenji did. The guy she dislike had remembered her birthday. "Your makeup is all set, love. The hair will be done soon and you can change to your gown." Hayley smiled at the artist and then reached for her phone. The first thing she saw on the screen was a text from Lucas and it immediately made her grin. Lucas never fails to greet her with a happy birthday. After she texted back with a thank you, Cassandra and the other staff told her to get changed to her wedding gown. The designer and his team had to help her. In order for it to be elegant, they need to assist her every time. Now she just hopes she doesn't trip over and be a laugh of the crowd. "Oh look at the time! We won't ma
Kenji was keeping an eye on Hayley even though he is talking with the guests. But just after a little while, he sees her talking to her assistant. And when Hayley suddenly ran out, he had to excuse himself and follow her outside. At the parking lot, he watches as she panicked, walking back and forth holding her cellphone. He was about to approach her when she mentioned a guy's name. It made him stop at the step his taking and listen to her cries with a frown on his face. Listening to Hayley desperately pleading for someone made him scoff. Hayley is sure a damn two-faced shit pretending to be this dignified fierce woman but when it comes to a guy she cries and pleads this much? He regrets ever selling his car for the damn rings. What the heck was he expecting? Hayley was in it for the money too but instead of for herself she was doing it for a guy. What a shame! Kenji had started liking her and the kiss they shared, he meant it. When
Around four in the afternoon when Kenji got home from the bank. He needed to create a savings account for him and Hayley just like they had agreed on.Inside their unit, everything was quiet so he figured Hayley must have gone out. He shrugged it off. Well, rules are rules, he shouldn't care if she was begging her damn boyfriend to come back or if she's jumping off a building right now.On his way to the kitchen to get some water, he noticed a slight footprint of blood and his eyes went round. The space between his eyebrows creased and he darted his eyes towards Hayley's room. It's none of his business but still, he rolled his eyes and walk towards her door. He raised his fist and knock. When no one answered, he turned the handle and he was surprised that she didn't leave it locked. The inside is a total art of disorganization. He can't believe he married someone as messy as Hayley. Blowing a heavy sigh, he welcomes himself in.Ke
They stopped by a pharmacy to buy her ointment and cornettos. She thought they were going to go straight back home but Kenji brought her to the park where they sat on a bench. There were not a lot of people there and it was quiet. "This is the last time I am going to be good to you so you better be good to me too," Kenji suddenly stated, handing her an ice cream. "Where have you been?" "I went to see Lucas. I had to make up with him before he leaves the country." "You guys broke up?" With a frown, Hayley turned to throw Kenji a glare. Why does this dude keep on insisting that she has a boyfriend? "Lucas is not my boyfriend, you idiot!" "Ah, so you're saying you two don't have a label but love each other? Something like that?" Hayley snorted, rolling her eyes, and started opening her ice cream. It's much more sensible that she eats her ice cream before it starts melting than answer her husband's ridiculous questions.
The days waiting for school to open is finally coming to an end for Hayley. She has researched everything about the Shinrea High School of Elites, the list of achievements by the school, and its high honor students. It is said that the average grade for their students was A+ and she barely gets a B in her old school. Just how smart are those students there? Does this mean she needs to damn study harder than she already did? Grading kills students like her. Hayley got off her bed and head outside. In their living room, she sees Kenji scrolling through his phone fast. She scrunched up her face, wondering how he can read what's on his news feed if he scrolls so fast like that. Slowly, she made her way to sit on the opposite chair as him. Then she took the remote from the center table, turning on the television, and pretend she's watching. But every now and then, she would glimpse at him, finding the opportunity to ask the question in her head.
It's been more than a minute and Hayley is still staring at the inside of their fridge with a grumpy face. That shit husband of hers said he is in charge of cooking and that he'd leave something for her to heat but there's no cooked food in the fridge! Sighing heavily, Hayley had closed the door and opened cabinets. Maybe there are some biscuits, she could eat. When she found a jar of chocolate chip, her eyes twinkled and she took it with her to the living room. She turned on their television and decided to watch a movie. In the first quarter of the movie, she glances at her phone to look at the time and it says eleven thirty-eight. Just some moments later, she hears a knock on their door and she immediately pauses her movie. Kenji doesn't knock at all so it sent goosebumps to her. She stands up and slowly went to the door. She wishes they had put that darn peephole a little lower so she'd see who was outside. When the knocking went louder, she inhaled
Just as the bell rang, everybody said goodbye to their teacher. The cool part is, the teacher always needs to get out of a classroom first before they start heading out. To Hayley, it was a new nice thing. At her old school, almost everyone just storms out as soon as the bell rings without even saying goodbye to their teacher. After getting her things, she noticed that Jasper was still sleeping, his head and arms rested on his desk. When she turned right, she sees Elea taking out her lunch box. So she doesn't go to the canteen. "What are you looking at?" Hayley immediately shifted her gaze to her bag. "I apologize. I thought everyone here goes to the cafeteria." "Cafeteria is full of shit people. You can bring your own lunch box to avoid the scenes there. Plus, it's fun preparing a lunch." "I'm not a good cook so I might bring a burnt lunch." "I'm Eleanor Waiver, but you can call me Elea for short," she smiles
