Hayley woke up to the sun's rays hitting her eyes that made her close them once more, groaning a little and turning to the other side. Ah, now she's much comfortable. She feels tired so she's going to stay in bed a little more.
Just some moments later, she could feel the brushing of fingers along her thigh and it tickles her, chuckling slightly. Her eyes remained close.
"Cristy, stop it. I'm still sleepy," she mumbled in her morning voice. "Go close the curtain for me."
"I think I need to put down your skirt rather than curtain first. Your lovely thighs are showing."
Hayley's eyes snapped open. She froze upon hearing that damn voice and seeing how she's facing his well-defined chest, she wants to scream! As she was about to push Kenji away, he suddenly wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer. She glances at him and her eyes went wide.
"Stay. I won't do anything to you but just stay a little longer," he whispers with his husky voice and his eyes remained close.
She tried to push him away, grunting, but he would just tighten his hold so she remained glaring. What the hell happened to her last night? Why is she-- wait are they in his room? She can't even see all of his room but it looks neat.
"Did somebody carry me? Why the hell am I here in your room? And you shit! The passcode you gave me was incorrect!"
Kenji let out a chuckle, moving himself closer to her and she resisted again, wiggling but he would not budge.
"Why'd you go home late last night?" he asked, finally opening his eyes. "Did you go see your boyfriend?"
"None of your business! Will you let me go now! You disgust me!"
"If you don't answer I'm not giving you the right passcode."
"Tch! Like you would give me it! I properly asked you yesterday and you gave me bullshit! I do not trust you so let go of me!"
"072518. You can go out and come back in to try it and if I'm right be a runaway bride."
It made her swallow hard. This time he sounded serious so it must be the real code. As she thinks hard, she realizes it is her birthday.
"Why is our passcode those numbers?"
"It's your birthday."
"I know but why?!"
"It's our wedding day, babe."
"What? Why wasn't I informed that my birthday is the wedding day? Where'd you get it? I thought we'd wed after my birthday, not on my birthday!"
"Well then, you should go banging on your parents' door."
Kenji finally let her go and she immediately moved away sitting at the corner of his bed. Now that she could properly see his room, it surprised her how things were organized neatly. It was not what she imagined his room was going to be.
Before she leaves, Hayley remembers how she waited last night. It's time for a little revenge. A corner of her mouth lifted and she kicked Kenji off the bed making a thud. Then she hears him groan and curse. Her laughter echoed as she stands and storms out of his room.
Just as she closed the door behind her, the smile on her face faded. Cassandra has been misleading her. It's like her mother is deliberately uninforming her of certain things that can make her back out.
"What the hell are they not telling me?"
To get Hayley's questions answered, she decided to visit the Grimroe mansion. Usually, her mother is not there but after asking Cristy the schedule, she found out Cassandra stayed at the mansion meeting some wedding coordinators. So what Ken doll told her was true.
At the door, Cristy has greeted her and escorted her inside. Even though it isn't necessary, Cristy would insist.
"So, how are things at the new home?"
"It's not a home, Cristy and Ken doll still disgusts me. Do you know what happened? He changed the passcode and I had to wait in the lobby and I ended up falling asleep there!"
"I guess I was wrong then when I said Mr. Maledict was nice. But I think you would have changed the passcode if you arrived earlier than him, yes?"
Hayley stopped walking to raise a brow at Cristy who was plastering an 'I know you' smile. She then twitched her mouth and nodded, continuing to ascend the stairs.
"Actually he isn't that bad. Ken doll was not messy. I saw his organized room."
"Really? He left his door open?"
"Well I slept--" she paused realizing what she was about to say. No! She can't tell that Kenji had carried her and she slept with that guy! It's cringy that didn't happen! "Yes! He left his door wide open!"
"I know when you lie, milady. Your look away and blink a couple of times. You slept in Mr. Maledict's room." Cristy softly chuckles.
"It's not like that!" she yells, throwing a cold stare, her lips in a pout. "I end up falling asleep in the lobby and I don't remember but maybe he carried me. My door was locked so he laid me on his bed. This morning I woke up I was with him! It was disgusting and if I had woken up, I would have made my way to my room! It's his fault!"
"Sure thing, milady." But Cristy was still keeping a playful smile that makes Hayley want to cry. "Oh and you have to admit, Mr. Maledict is quite charming."
"A little but I don't care! He annoys me!"
As soon as they arrived, she sees her mother with a bunch of people, laughing with exciting grins on their faces. Their meeting must have ended just now. With a blank expression on her face, she strides towards her mother.
"Mother!" she calls, surprising Cassandra, "May I talk with you privately, please?"
The other guests were looking at her but she's too mad to greet them. Cassandra seemed to notice so she dismissed the guests and when they were further away, she was told to follow.
Inside a room, Hayley unmannerly sits on the chair facing Cassandra, her killer eyes activated. Oh, how she wants to yell at her mother.
"I wonder why my sweet flower visited. Is something wrong with your new home?"
"Actually no. But I heard from Kenji that the wedding day is on my birthday. Why didn't you tell me this? I thought we agreed it was after my birthday, mother?"
Cassandra then sighed deeply, the smile she had from earlier faded and was replaced with a hardened expression.
"I know you were planning to celebrate your birthday with Lucas and those kids at the orphanage, Hayley. And the sooner, the better, isn't it?"
"I already told you that I am not backing out! Is there something you and dad have been hiding from me? Are you going to change the promised money with another deal? Like bearing a child? I think I deserve to know the future you've written for me!"
"Oh, my dear! That marriage is the last one and I assure you, you will get the money I and your dad promised you."
Hayley fiercely stares at her mother's face. This lovely face had deceived and left her no choice but to marry. Even Lucas was set aside because of this woman. No matter how much she hates Cassandra, she was till her mother and it's pitiful.
"I apologize for coming unannounced. I was just shocked when I found out about it from Kenji rather than my own parents."
"Oh, love!" Cassandra stands up to sit beside her, hugging her and even kissing the top of her head. "I was going to tell you but I was busy with the wedding. We will take care of it. All you have to do is practice walking down the aisle a week or two before the wedding."
Practicing with walking down the aisle was not pleasing to Hayley. Especially when Kenji is waiting for her at the end. His playful grin has had her scoffing all the time. She can't even believe she survived living with him for the past weeks. "Hayley! Smile! It's your wedding! You can't be frowning like that in three days' time! Learn to smile!" Aish, demanding damn coordinators! She had to force a big smile to please them. Her days have been like this, practicing the same old things and even the speeches-- scripted ones of course because just writing 'love' disgusts them both. When she got to the altar, Kenji took her hand whispering something in her ear. It isn't surprising anymore, he does it every time to annoy her. "Okay! So you both stand here while the priest does his things!" They decided that it will be a church wedding. Hayley specifically told their parents she wants a church wedding. It isn't because
After their long day, Hayley was still sulking at the other corner of their car. She was still mad from what Kenji did earlier and she didn't want to be touched. They were stuck in traffic, and it's even a long way home from the church they practiced at."I told you, it's just a practice. Don't tell me you didn't think we'd share a kiss after the priest announces, 'you may now kiss the bride'? You really think it's believable if I kiss you on the cheek?""I said don't talk to me, Ken doll. I'm really going to kill you!" she warns.Kenji glances at her for a moment and back in front. Hayley looked like she was going to eat him alive so he'll let her be for a while. Earlier at lunch, his father had given him a ring to give Hayley. That was why he had not let go of her and they ended up in that cake shop. In the end, he couldn't give the damn diamond ring.An engagement ring that costs a lot is necessary for their family's name, for the guests to see.
At the grand suite of the hotel, Hayley is being scolded while the make-up artist does her make-up. Although Cassandra is being loud, she could not hear her mother. All she thinks about was how she forgot it was her birthday, how her mother has not greeted her but Kenji did. The guy she dislike had remembered her birthday. "Your makeup is all set, love. The hair will be done soon and you can change to your gown." Hayley smiled at the artist and then reached for her phone. The first thing she saw on the screen was a text from Lucas and it immediately made her grin. Lucas never fails to greet her with a happy birthday. After she texted back with a thank you, Cassandra and the other staff told her to get changed to her wedding gown. The designer and his team had to help her. In order for it to be elegant, they need to assist her every time. Now she just hopes she doesn't trip over and be a laugh of the crowd. "Oh look at the time! We won't ma
Kenji was keeping an eye on Hayley even though he is talking with the guests. But just after a little while, he sees her talking to her assistant. And when Hayley suddenly ran out, he had to excuse himself and follow her outside. At the parking lot, he watches as she panicked, walking back and forth holding her cellphone. He was about to approach her when she mentioned a guy's name. It made him stop at the step his taking and listen to her cries with a frown on his face. Listening to Hayley desperately pleading for someone made him scoff. Hayley is sure a damn two-faced shit pretending to be this dignified fierce woman but when it comes to a guy she cries and pleads this much? He regrets ever selling his car for the damn rings. What the heck was he expecting? Hayley was in it for the money too but instead of for herself she was doing it for a guy. What a shame! Kenji had started liking her and the kiss they shared, he meant it. When
Around four in the afternoon when Kenji got home from the bank. He needed to create a savings account for him and Hayley just like they had agreed on.Inside their unit, everything was quiet so he figured Hayley must have gone out. He shrugged it off. Well, rules are rules, he shouldn't care if she was begging her damn boyfriend to come back or if she's jumping off a building right now.On his way to the kitchen to get some water, he noticed a slight footprint of blood and his eyes went round. The space between his eyebrows creased and he darted his eyes towards Hayley's room. It's none of his business but still, he rolled his eyes and walk towards her door. He raised his fist and knock. When no one answered, he turned the handle and he was surprised that she didn't leave it locked. The inside is a total art of disorganization. He can't believe he married someone as messy as Hayley. Blowing a heavy sigh, he welcomes himself in.Ke
They stopped by a pharmacy to buy her ointment and cornettos. She thought they were going to go straight back home but Kenji brought her to the park where they sat on a bench. There were not a lot of people there and it was quiet. "This is the last time I am going to be good to you so you better be good to me too," Kenji suddenly stated, handing her an ice cream. "Where have you been?" "I went to see Lucas. I had to make up with him before he leaves the country." "You guys broke up?" With a frown, Hayley turned to throw Kenji a glare. Why does this dude keep on insisting that she has a boyfriend? "Lucas is not my boyfriend, you idiot!" "Ah, so you're saying you two don't have a label but love each other? Something like that?" Hayley snorted, rolling her eyes, and started opening her ice cream. It's much more sensible that she eats her ice cream before it starts melting than answer her husband's ridiculous questions.
The days waiting for school to open is finally coming to an end for Hayley. She has researched everything about the Shinrea High School of Elites, the list of achievements by the school, and its high honor students. It is said that the average grade for their students was A+ and she barely gets a B in her old school. Just how smart are those students there? Does this mean she needs to damn study harder than she already did? Grading kills students like her. Hayley got off her bed and head outside. In their living room, she sees Kenji scrolling through his phone fast. She scrunched up her face, wondering how he can read what's on his news feed if he scrolls so fast like that. Slowly, she made her way to sit on the opposite chair as him. Then she took the remote from the center table, turning on the television, and pretend she's watching. But every now and then, she would glimpse at him, finding the opportunity to ask the question in her head.
It's been more than a minute and Hayley is still staring at the inside of their fridge with a grumpy face. That shit husband of hers said he is in charge of cooking and that he'd leave something for her to heat but there's no cooked food in the fridge! Sighing heavily, Hayley had closed the door and opened cabinets. Maybe there are some biscuits, she could eat. When she found a jar of chocolate chip, her eyes twinkled and she took it with her to the living room. She turned on their television and decided to watch a movie. In the first quarter of the movie, she glances at her phone to look at the time and it says eleven thirty-eight. Just some moments later, she hears a knock on their door and she immediately pauses her movie. Kenji doesn't knock at all so it sent goosebumps to her. She stands up and slowly went to the door. She wishes they had put that darn peephole a little lower so she'd see who was outside. When the knocking went louder, she inhaled
