Chapter 06

A mess. It is what Kenji saw in the kitchen when he got back. He was just going to get a bottle of water when his eyes caught the burnt food on the frying pan that's on the sink. Ingredient pieces were everywhere near the sink and plates and tools were left unwashed. Damn! This could only be Hayley!

Kenji marched towards Hayley's door and when he was in front, he made a fist and bang loudly on his lovely bride's door. He doesn't care if she's already sleeping or what, he just needs the kitchen cleaned.

The door opened revealing an annoyed Hayley with her arms crossed, her brows drawn together.

"What do you damn want?"

"I want you to clean the mess you made in the kitchen."

"Tch! I'll do it tomorrow mor--"

"I want it now!" he interrupted, his voice cold and deep. "Do it or I'll drag you to the kitchen."

Before Hayley started moving, she threw Kenji a dirty stare, rolling her eyes when she walk past him, mumbling. He sighed, following the messy Hayley.

While Hayley washes, Kenji was at the counter, observing how she washes. He just wanted to make sure their things are squeaky cleaned.

"I agree to mind our own businesses but don't leave our mutual place like that. You can mess your room but not the parts where I partly own."

"Yeah yeah," Hayley sneered. "Did your girlfriend dumped you or something, you came back in a pretty bad mood."

"I just don't like the kitchen dirty, you mess!"

He hears how she scoffed and intentionally make sounds out of the plates she is washing. She is probably cursing him in her mind too. Seeing the way she washes the dishes, she probably doesn't wash dishes nor cook for herself at their mansion. Damn rich girls.

"Done!" she shouts after wiping the last plate dry and faced him with a fake smile. "Can I go back to my room now, Ken doll?"

"Yeah, sho!"

Hayley clicked her tongue while twitching her upper lip. She was about to go when she remembers the passcode and looked back at Kenji.

"I need the passcode! Give me it!" She demanded.

Kenji slowly turn around and gave Hayley a proud face that made her raise a brow. Her lips were pressed together and her eyes were on the hunt making Kenji display a smirk.

"If you had arrived first, I know you would do the same. Change the passcode and laugh at me, huh?"

"No! I would not!"

Lie. He could tell by the way she looks away, blinking a couple of times. His lovely bride does not know how to lie.

"Alright. The passcode is 665578." He saw how she easily remembers the code he had given her. Before turning away she flashed him a smile. He wanted to ask her for dinner but he was reminded of their number one rule.

Inside Kenji's room, he lays comfortably on his bed, just staring at his ceiling. He can't wait to get married and get his plans started. He plans to save the money he will get out of the marriage and after he graduates, he will start proving to his father that he can make it on his own out there.

Kenji's father would always slap it to his face that he would be nothing without the Maledict on his name. That his older brother that died could have been the good son, the heir.

"I never wanted to be the heir," he whispers, sighing heavily. "I just wanted to do my own thing."

The next morning, Hayley woke up really late. And unlike the previous days when she wakes up with a smile, now that she knows her fate, she just wanted to sleep again. But that won't do. Today, she promised she would visit sister Roseta and the children at the orphanage. And since she has the passcode, she can finally sneak out.

To get going, she got off her bed and did some stretches. Then she took a shower and dress up neatly. After her preparations, she went out of her room and notices that everything was peaceful. The stupid Ken doll must have gone somewhere and so she shrugged it off, hurrying to the door.

Before she goes straight to the orphanage, she stops by a candy shop to buy some candies for the children. This is her usual thing, giving everyone candies that's why almost all kids there love her so much.

When she got there, the kids' eyes were twinkling upon seeing her at the gate. One of the older kids immediately opened the gate for her, grinning and greeting her. The other younger kids also came running. And they knew what the drill was, forming a line for the candies.

As soon as Sister Roseta came to greet her, she let the older kids in charge of the candies and greet the ever-good Sister Roseta, hugging the woman in her 50's.

"I'm so glad you had time to see us, my dear! The kids missed you so much!"

"Oh, I can tell. How are you, sister Roseta? You are not stressed out with the bank, are you?"

"Oh no, love! Because of your promise to them, they've not bothered us."

"I am relieved."

But deep inside her, she was really worried that her mother won't fulfill her promise again. If that happens she will really blow up.

In the inside of the orphanage, she sees Lucas helping with their lunch. Oh, she woke up really late and now she's planning to eat there. Well, she has no more curfew so she can go home whenever he wants.

"Hayley!" Lucas called, pausing his work just to come and hug her. "I didn't know you would visit today. Are things okay?"

"Yes! Mom actually let me go today. I was glad she is not as strict now, so I can visit whenever I want!"

Lucas narrowed his eyes at her for a moment before getting back to what he is doing. Hayley is relieved that he didn't ask more questions. He would flip if he found out she is engaged and marrying someone she hates.

"Are you leaving after lunch?"

"No! I am staying, Lucas! Do you want me to leave already?"

"Of course not. Will you help me slice the carrots? If that's okay with you.  Annie won't be here until four."

Hayley then nods, moving beside him and taking a board and a knife. Lucas told her to be careful with it since the last time she helped she cut her finger accidentally. She had a pretty good scolding from Cristy and Lucas saw that. That is why he worries about her.

As they prepare lunch, they also talked about their days. Most of her answers were lies since lately she's pretty annoyed with Kenji. Good thing she didn't see that idiot when she went out.

When Hayley and Lucas finished, the volunteers that looked out for the children helped them with serving the food. The whole dining area was filled with children's voices and their cute laughs. This happy place is worth the troubles she is facing right now.

"You look happy. Is the food that good?" Lucas asked.

Hayley then looks at him, showing a sweet smile. "I'm always happy when I am with you guys. And you should really not miss that opportunity to study abroad. It will enhance your talent."

"We already talked about this, Hayley. I don't want to--"

"Please Lucas," she pleaded, staring at his green eyes that reflected hers. "I want to be of help to you. You can make up to me later. I'm pretty sure you won't forget me."

Lucas looked down and back to her, he moved his hand close and flick her forehead that immediately creased. She glare at Lucas but when she saw him grinning, it flattened the wrinkle on her forehead. Lucas' smile is something she wants him to keep wearing.

Hayley went home around nine in the evening and she got home almost ten due to traffic. She was having too much fun with the people at the orphanage that she forgot the time. Even Lucas offered to take her home but since she hasn't told him anything, she insisted on a no like always.

In front of their door, Hayley confidently inputted the number 665578 just like Kenji told her but when it beeped like the other day, her eyes widened. She released a sharp breath looking around, frustrated. She hammered the door with her fist, shouting for Kenji to open the door but nobody came.

To check if he was there, she looked through the slight opening down at the bottom and saw the lights were off. She stood up and inhaled deeply. That freaking guy is really dead when I see him, she thought, stomping her foot. If she had his number, she would call him and shout at him.

Hayley did not want to wait outside their door looking like a girlfriend who lost her boyfriend, so she went to the front desk. There, she asked for their unit's spare keys or any way that she could get in but they only told her that she'd better wait for Mr. Maledict.

"Are you really for real? Did that Ken doll told you to do this to me? Did he pay you?"

"We understand your frustration, ma'am but Mr. Maledict instructed us that if you--"

She raised her hand, interrupting the damn receptionist. Oh, she gets it. This is one of the Maledict's buildings so these employees are just following his damn order. To hell with that rich damn Kenji!

With no other choice, she walks towards the lobby, sitting on the sofa, harshly taking a pillow and wanting to tear it apart out of her anger. She plans to wait and kick the ass out of that stupid guy!

"You wait you Ken doll! I will really kick your damn balls!"

It was past midnight when Kenji stepped in their building from hanging out with his friends all day. The security guard in the inside even greeted him with a good morning and he just nodded. He actually was not planning to stay this late but things got fun.

As he was about to head to the elevator, a receptionist called his attention by raising a hand and pointing at something. When he glances at where she is pointing, he walks there. And there he found his lovely bride, sleeping comfortably on the sofa. Hayley's mouth was slightly opened, her hands were raised up and her other foot was down on the floor. So much for someone wearing a skirt and sleeping in the lobby, it made a corner of his curve up.

Kenji tried to shake Hayley for her to wake up but it seems like she is a heavy sleeper. No other choice, he scooped her into his arms.

"What time did she get here?" he asked the receptionist.

"Around ten in the evening, sir."

Before he head to the elevator, he flashed the receptionist a smile. After all, he told the receptionist what to do if Hayley ever requests for a key.

Inside the elevator, it was a little hard to press on their floor but he managed to. Hayley is short and she isn't even that heavy but if she were awake he would tell her the opposite. As they ascend, he could not help but look at her adorable sleeping face. He can't believe this feisty lady believed when he gave her the code. She sneaked out and this time she got home really late.

In front of their door, he is convinced that Hayley has a talent in sleeping comfortably anywhere as he types their passcode. From all the movement he has been making she is still sound asleep.

As Kenji enters the light in the living was off. Good thing the one from the doorway to the kitchen was on and it gave him some of its light.

Kenji made his way towards her room only when he turned her door handle, it was damn locked. His arms were also getting sore and he is torn between putting her down on the sofa or let her stay in his bed.

"Damn it!" he curses as he rushes towards his room, abruptly opening the door and carefully put Hayley down on his bed. He then shook his arms, feeling it sore.

If he was not in the mood, he would try to find her room's key so he can put her there but as he thinks of her reaction waking up next to him, an evil grin showed on his face.

"You'll be sleeping with me for all this trouble."
