chapter seventeen

A blinding lite.

Tires screeching loudly.

A white ceiling. Masked faces.

Light and then silence.

My eyes opened slowly as I came back to reality and found myself in an odd room. Where am I? Looking around I took in the room. The lights where dim, but some light was sipping into the room from the space in between the blinds. My hand had an cannula embedded in it. Without an IV running. There was a yellow cap holding it closed. I stared at it for a second. Was I in a hospital?

I heard a couple of people pass by my door but no one came in. Then a particular set of voices got louder until they were right outside my hospital room door.

"We need to speak with her, it's important that take her statement", the woman spoke in a demanding tone. Like she's in a hurry.

"I understand officer, but she needs a few hours of rest. She suffered a really bad knock to the head and hasn't been conscious since", a soft voice spoke now. She must be the nurse.
