Prologue

Angelique walked out of her van and approached the entrance of a seemingly normal establishment. Attendants lined each side of the path and bowed to greet her.

“Greetings, Madam.” they spoke with reverence.

She bowed in return. She entered the reception’s desk and spotted an attendant assisting a client who had just came in. The receptionist, Phaedra, saw her and immediately bowed in respect.

The madam walked out of the reception area and into the arboretum. Ascalaphus, who was cutting the shrubs into various shapes, stopped his task to go to her side. He bowed his head.

“Encountered any problem with the greenery?” Angelique asked.

“They are coming along nicely, my lady.” He matched her pace as she walked around.

“How about the seedlings in the conservatory?”

“I have assigned a couple of my subordinates to watch over the seedlings. I have already transferred the wood roses to a bigger pot.”

“Perfect.” Angelique said as she smiled to herself.

For outsiders, it would appear as though the place is a normal resort. There are numerous, huge swimming pools, different recreational areas such as basketball and volleyball courts, dining area and other facilities with which usual resorts come with. However, this is not a normal resort.

This resort is actually, the underworld. The clients are the souls of the dead. And the attendants are nymphs and other mythical creatures.

“Madam, I see that you have already arrived.” Charon greeted her. In front of him is a handsome man in navy blue suit, exuding charisma that makes others stop and listen. Behind him is an entourage of nymphs who assist him with his work.

That CEO is in fact the reincarnation of Hades.

Angelique cocked her head and looked at the CEO, “What are you doing here?”

He looked at her for a brief moment, “Isn’t it obvious for the CEO to inspect the business?” And then he just walked past her.

This man, really. “Don’t you know what ‘small talk’ means, Fran?”

That stopped him in his steps. Charon, Ascalaphus, and the other nymphs were all frozen in place, too. Ascalaphus whispered to her, “Madam, I would not dare call the master by his mortal name if I were you.”

“Why? What is wrong with Fran? I think it is a nice name.” she countered.

Shortly after that, Fran continued on until he was nowhere in sight.

Charon stayed behind and went to her, “Mistress, I beg you. Address his lordship properly. I get a heart attack every time you say his mortal name.”

“Oh please Charon. Do not be such a drama king. You simply cannot die.” She laughed.

Hades’ mortal name is Fran Treloar. However, nobody dares to call him that, especially in the underworld. His “employees” call him lord, lordship, highness, and master. It is only Angelique who has the guts to call him by his mortal name.

“I bet he likes it too.”

Well, Angelique is also not just a normal woman, not anymore. Several months ago, she found herself to be the reincarnation of goddess Persephone. In the blink of an eye, she suddenly became the wife of Hades and queen of the underworld. It was like she entered the pages of the Greek mythology book she used to read in one of her literature classes.

Thinking about her previous life made her reminisce about it…
