Chapter nineteen [Part three]

The rest of the ceremony went by in a breeze and I didn't actually pay much of my attention to whatever the hell the officiant said throughout the ceremony because I was focused on calming my nerves. The ceremony wasn't that long and soon enough, it was time for the most dreaded part of the wedding (at least it was dreaded for me): The vows.

"Do you, Ivan Trevelyan, take, Isabelle Kimberly Greene, as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, fit or fat, for the rest of your life?"

Silence.

I raised my gaze to look at him, his face was taut and expressionless. He looked bored. I felt a flicker of hope in my chest. Please change your mind, please change your mind, please change your mind.

The Jamaican officiant cleared his throat awkwardly again. "I said-"

"Is this really necessary?
