1. Bloody Destiny

Santiago’s POV

Just looking at her shoes makes me think she looks like she can't walk anymore. So we both froze; she glanced up and asked, "Sir, what's wrong?"

I saw a pathway chair in the street and I said, “Let’s go there.”

She kept following me even though she had no idea what was going through my mind. She sat down and looked at me with her eyes. When I crouched down to remove her shoes, I noticed her ankle was red and her toes were so painful that she could not walk.

Still, she smiled at me, masking her pain. "Sir, you don't have to do that anymore. I'm really fine."

"No, I think you need a new pair of shoes." I said it out of the blue, not realizing that being so nice to a woman like her would hurt my image.

I rose, reached into my wallet, and gave her five hundred dollars so she could have new shoes. She sighed and looked at my hand before looking into my eyes. "You don't have to do that, sir."

“Take it.” I insisted and grabbed her hand to take the money.
