CARTER'S POV

My words had pleased them both. Both these two women were pleased to hear what I had said.

It's not the truth, but it's the only way to keep them from asking any more questions about what happened at the restaurant last night.

I should have known that after that long face Charlotte pulled at me last night, before heading in, she'll still take it to my mother. Just to get her to talk.
