Author's POV

Mr Lyam's eyes were wide open in disbelief and he slowly started to step backwards while his eyes moved from Alvin to Nora.

“I—I should…” he stammered.

Alvin swept his hands over his hair, in loss of what to do. “Why are you even here?“

“The…” Mr Lyam was looking at Nora's back as he answered, obviously trying to check if he had imagined what he saw.

Nora's face was red in embarrassment and she slowly started walking back to the dining room without looking back when she suddenly heard what the butler said next.

“The police are here.“

Nora froze still. Her heart flew into the air as she started to wonder the reason for the cops being here. Could it be because of her? Maybe Alvin's father had gone to make stories to the police because he thought she'd go and report him first if he didn't. Or maybe David knew Alvin's house since they had been schoolmates and he came with the police after telling them that Alvin wrongfully abducted her.
