Nora's POV

I quietly listened to Alvin's story and watched his expression change from grief to dejection to hatred and anger as he told it.

Then finally, he stopped. And I didn't have to look at his eyes to know that he had gotten to the end.

My hands started to shake on the table and I eventually brought it down to my sides. Every single word he said was digesting gradually in my brain and I was starting to feel it would be much to carry—maybe I shouldn't have forced him to say the truth, afterall.

I closed my eyes, breathing in and out. But the next second, I hurriedly opened them because I was starting to see everything he said even when I hadn't witnessed any of it.

If Alvin's story was true—which I believed it was; then that would mean the pain I had gone through in my life was little compared to his. His voice had cracked at some parts as he explained how dejected and frustrated he had felt and the way his mother started to treat him like he was an old and useless doll p
