The truth

Catherine's POV

I heard low noises around me as I woke up. My eyes squinted in pain as I tried to make out anything in my surroundings.

I started to move my hands so I could stretch but the pain brought me back. I let my head fall back on the bed and closed my eyes; thinking this was just a bad dream.

But the reality of it was starting to take a grip on me. And I suddenly noticed even when I was too weak to raise my hands that a bandage was tied over my head.

I completely closed my eyes to try ro remember what happened; And it suddenly opened the moment I recalled that David was the cause of it. The last thing I remember was him pushing me harshly to the wall behind him… and then: Blank!

I felt a teardrop cascade down my cheeks. I'm just starting to realise the gravity of what I've done; maybe I should've left when he told me to.

My fingers managed to move and touched the cloth I was wearing. And with dejection, I saw it was made of cotton—not exactly what I had been wearing
