The rest of the event went by monotonously. I usually enjoyed these gatherings, but since meeting Helen... I mean Scarlett... My head hasn't been thinking straight. I understand that Helen was just a fantasy and the woman in front of me was someone else.
Her words and her cold, distant demeanor, with a touch of irritation, were enough for me to truly understand that she wasn't coming back and that she had moved on. I'm glad Klaus didn't say: “I told you so.”
The evening seemed to drag on and I tried my best to keep smiling and socializing and even made attempts at a few jokes. Klaus was completely opposite to me and disliked these events as much as I used to love them, but we attended as it was always good for business.
