Later that night after Sharlynn's mom came back from the hospital where she'd been working, Sharlynn thought about how she would tell her mom that she was going to a party. After thinking long and hard about it, she decided she would just dress up for the party, and then when her mom sees how psyched she is to attend the party she would let her go. 

The thought of opening her closet made her unhappy because her clothes weren't much anymore. Just the ones her parents were able to save from the fire were on her bed and she felt weird putting very few clothes in the closet because it looked three times larger than her old one. It would only make her lack of clothes more obvious. 

" What am I going to do now?" She said as she sat on her bed and covered her face in her palms. Darren had invited her to the party and she felt awful that she couldn't go because her clothes were probably ashes.
