Chapter 48: Eric Always Amazes Me

Hearing something fall to the ground and make a loud clattering sound, I startle and open my eyes quickly.  Ready to fight, fangs slide out and my claws draw, but when I turn it is only Eric trying to get out of bed without waking me.  I smile in relief and say, “Good morning, Eric.”  Before he returns the smile and climbs out. 

When he is on his feet, he walks over to me and says, “You have no idea what kinds of dreams I have been having.  They are definitely not good ones, I might add.”

I watch as he shakes his head in frustration while looking up at the ceiling, and then he lowers his gaze to me.  The sadness in his eyes tells me that he has been through too much in the last several days and he is at his wits end.  He softly cups my chin in his palm before leaning down and kissing me.
