Chapter 49: What Could Come Next?
Feeling someone shaking me gently, I wake up and glance at Eric lying next to me. He has his finger to his lips and then says in a whisper, “Don’t make a noise, there is someone here.”
I quietly climb out of bed and wrap the blanket around me, before heading to the door and carefully looking around the corner to the hallway. With Eric right behind me, we creep down the hall and just before I get the front door open, someone tackles Eric from behind and knocks me onto the ground. Turning my head, I look behind me before pushing off the floor.
Standing up, I stare for a second or two at Eric fighting a man, before I encounter yet another one who is glaring at me from the doorway. Instantly, my fangs and claws come out as he launches himself at me. Swiping at him with my claws, I don’t connect but rather feel the air knocked out of me from behind when the man Eric was fighting turns around suddenly and kicks me in the spine.
