Shane finished reading the letter, and I couldn't stop thinking about what I had done. My mind was blank from all the thoughts racing through my head. Was it possible that everything that had happened wasn't Zelene's fault? We accused her of something so significant without realizing that the truth was quite different. How did we not question if something was amiss? It was evident that Zelene wasn't a wicked person. Why didn't we investigate further?

"Oh, my goodness!" Oscar's sigh brought me back to reality.

I shook my head and blinked hard, trying to hide the tears. All this time, I was accusing her when it was a completely different person I had first fallen in love with. Zel had truly touched my heart, but when Zelene came along, I felt a genuine and innocent attraction towards her. My anger and all the false evidence against us had prevented me from pursuing her.

She stopped crying and let go of the hug with Oscar. I noticed the brothers avoiding eye contact with her,
