I entered through the large window and found the room completely empty. I could still hear the others fighting, and the chilling screams were echoing off the walls.

I started using my wolf's help to track the scents around. I tried to calm my rapid breaths so that I could hear my surroundings clearly. It seemed like there weren't many people in this house; maybe everyone had gone to secure the main door for safety.

However, despite not hearing anyone nearby, I just couldn't shake the feeling that my daughter was somewhere close. Once I was in the long hallway, I finally heard footsteps. I hid behind a wall and paid close attention to who it was.

"Keep an eye on the basement. Make sure no one gets their hands on them," I recognized the voice as Remi, Zelene's adoptive mother. She was giving instructions to the guard about the basement.

Whoever they had in the basement was crucial.

I remembered Zel's letter, and it was pretty clear that I was on the right track.
