Chapter 19

Alexa's POV

He looks at me, his eyes filled with hurt. I wanted to burst into tears over what I'm about to do, but I held on to my last bit of resolve, my eyes filled with determination.

“Let it go, Ace, I said I'm fine,” I say coldly.

“Come on Kira, let's go,” I said to my handmaiden, and together we left a confused and dumbstruck Ace in the hallway.

I walk into my room and Kira shut the door behind us. I willed myself not to cry in front of her.

“Luna? Let me help you out of your clothes, or you will catch a cold,” she says worriedly.

I nod, and she helps me to the bathroom, where I take off my nightgown and change into a new set of red nightwear Kira brought out of my closet for me. She leads me to sit on a chair and used a clean towel to dry my dripping hair. All this while, I just sit and stare into space like a statue.

“You look pale, Luna, should I get you a cup of warm tea?” she asks.

“No,” I mumbled weakly. I don't think I can stomach anything right now. All I w
