Chapter 33

From Daunte's POV

I had stayed up the entire night, watching over Alessia. As stalkerish as it sounds, I needed to make sure that nothing came after her. A few times, I almost dozed off, but Romo woke me up.

I had been feeling a little better, still not at full strength, but I didn't want anyone to know. I had to stay and make sure Alessia was safe. Dominic had worked throughout the night to get the room cleaned up, but even so, I still wasn't sure I wanted to send Alessia back in there, a conversation I would have to have with her sometime today, but for now, I basked in the glow of her happiness as we shopped.

I could tell she was enjoying herself. It pulled at my heartstrings that she was deprived of this small, simple pleasure, yet I was happy I could share this experience with her.

While Sara and Alessia shopped, Dominic and I stood back but close enough to make sure they were safe.
