Irina’s POV
I was so hungry. Nothing seemed to fill me up at the moment, my stomach like a bottomless pit. If I wasn’t hungry, I was constantly needing to use the bathroom. Damien watches me as I work my way through my cheeseburgers. They were so good, hitting just the right spot, satisfying my stomach.
“Not hungry?” I ask between mouthfuls. Damien had only ordered himself a coffee, but he sits watching me, a knowing smile on his face.
“What is it?” I wipe my cheek, wondering if I had ketchup on my face, but the grin stays.
He doesn’t get a chance to answer as the wave of nausea hits, just as the final mouthful touches my stomach.
“Bathroom’s that way” Damien points behind me, like he was expecting me to be sick. Barely making it into the bathroom, I throw myself towards the sink. Everything I had eaten, making a reappearance.
A gentle knock at the door comes and I tell them to go a
Damien’s POVI knew it, it was too obvious for her too not be pregnant. Her happiness does not match my own, in fact she looks sad, heartbroken.“What’s the matter?”She mutters my name again and I realise what she is trying to say. Our child will be the heir of Blood Pack but they would be my heir too.An Alpha by blood and an Alpha by fate. A child born from two Alphas, something that had never been heard of.“The note” Aiden mutters. He was right, the note had said ‘The last Blood Alpha,” maybe it had never been about Irina, maybe it had been about our child.“What are we going to do?” Her voice was quiet as she looks down at the floor, her hand resting on her stomach.“We are going to raise a happy and healthy child.” It was what we needed to focus on, but I needed answers. I needed to find out if this really is the only case in the world.&ldquo
Damien’s POVGunnar looks confused, his gaze shifting between Rosy and I. He finally settles on Rosy “You lie child!”A small giggle comes from Rosy’s direction “I’m not the one hiding things, am I, Alpha Damien?”I keep my mouth shut, was she talking about Ivan or Irina. She couldn’t possibly know about Irina.“Child, tell these people to stand down. Blood Pack will slaughter you. Is that what you want?”“I am not a child; I am an Alpha!” Rosy stamps her foot, just like a sulking child.Gunnar’s deep laugh rumbles as he walks towards Rosy, the ground vibrating beneath him. She doesn’t flinch, nor does she back away, trying to stand her ground. “You think you are worthy of being an Alpha?”“This pack is mine by birth right. My father was the Alpha of Black Crescent, I am an Alpha.”“Was” Gunnar growls,
Irina’s POVI don’t know why I said it. The words just tumbled out of my mouth. The happiness on Gunnar’s face was almost creepy, his grin ear to ear. I guess with him being under Ketill’s hold for so long, his emotions had been stripped from him, now they were slowly making a reappearance.“Two days, we will be expecting you”“I will come when I am ready” I glare at him, annoyed with his expectation. He nods his head and leaves. I hated lying, I had no intention of going to them.“Thank fuck for that” Raine mutters, we are not going to them surely?”“I don’t intend too!”Damien makes me jump, his hands finding their way to my stomach, he rests his chin on top of my head.“Telling fibs?” he mutters as we both watch Gunnar through the window.“How did you know?”“Just a guess, but you have confirmed my
Damien’s POVI stare at the letter. Every so often I would glance up at my mate, who was now dry heaving. Dropping the letter, I find myself rubbing Irina’s back, trying to reassure her that it was all okay, that everything would work out. I had no idea which bit was freaking her out, the news of our child or the news that she would be bringing Blood Packs reign to an end.Her hands rest on her stomach as she gasps for air whispering the words ‘ultimate Alpha’ over and over. I was trying to concentrate on her and not think of the letter, but I couldn’t get the words out of my head either.Beads of sweat start forming on Irina’s skin, her eyes search mine as they begin to glaze over. She was on the verge of passing out. Lifting her from the chair, I take her through to the main room, laying her on the couch.“Water” she gasps at me, and I head towards the kitchen, stumbling over a floorboard on my way.
Irina’s POV“You're really thinking about ending the Blood Pack?” He asks me for the hundredth time as we head home, my hand clutching the photograph of my womb.“Yes Damien” I was starting to get a little annoyed, I had made my decision, I had said what I wanted, what my plan was, and he was still questioning me.“No one has ever done it; everyone has always been too inferior to them. I didnt even know that they still existed until Austin told me!”We walk up the steps of the packhouse as he expresses his concerns, only stopping when we are inside.“You really think it is going to be that easy?” he glances up at me from his chair.“Probably not, but I don’t want them in my life, I don’t need them in my life. I don’t want our child brought up with their twisted ideas.”Screams erupt inside my head, forcing me to bring my hands up over my ears. Damien p
Damien’s POVShe sent me into sheer panic for a moment. I would do anything to protect our child, absolutely anything.I stare at her in the mirror for a few minutes, not quite believeing what she had just done. Waiting for my heart rate to settle to a steady rhythm and for Aiden to stop cursing. Rubbing my temples, I get ready to pull away when she starts speaking.“I could make them kill themselves.”This time I turn to look at her. Irina is leaning back on the seat, her hands resting on her stomach as she stared out into the trees.“Did you just say what I think you did?”She doesn’t look at me, “I hate the mind control, its always right there on the edge, teasing me, testing me, wanting me to use it, to see how far I could push people. If they all die, there will be no need for me to even consider using it.” Her shoulders sink as she sighs. She hadn’t ever really talked about it.
Irina’s POVHe tells me everything. The witch who Damien had gone to for a spell, how he called her for help because of the guardians, how she had told him what to do and then the phone was wierdly disconnected. He talks about a mark or symbol that will be on the letter if water is applied and how he was fighting with the decision of destroying the last thing my mother gave me.We sit at the table, the letter lying open in the middle, neither of us speaking as we both stare at the letter. My mother’s handwriting neat and tidy as it always had been.“What if it doesn’t work?” I was the first to break the silence “Then the letter would be ruined”Damien nods his head at me, “But what if it leads us to answers?”I stare at him, frowning, “What other answers do we need. The baby is going to be a strong Alpha, I know how to kill the Blood Pack! What more do you need to know?”&ldqu
Damien’s POVI’m awakened by an excruciating pain, a horrid uncomfortable stabbing pain, rolling across my entire torso. It was worse than when Ketill stabbed me. I try to reach out to Irina, only for my hand to hit a cold pillow. With the pain, I sit up and look around. Irina wasn’t even present in the room, where was she? It was still dark outside.“Irina?” I reach out through a link but it was like I was being blocked, my words fizzing out before she hears them.“What’s going on?” Aiden asks me, he was contorted up in just as much pain as I was, whatever was happening was affecting the both of us.“I don’t know” I tell him, everything had been fine when we went to bed. Even Irina had been calm and had cuddled into me. I hoped that she hadn’t done anything stupid. I hoped she hadn't gone through with her plan.Barely being able to move, I call for Austin. When he appears, he
