Audrey's POV
The rest of the day passed in a twinkle of an eye. I could not even pinpoint what I did with it. After Alaric had left me alone in the room with warmth oozing out of my body, I decided to go for a stroll and walk till I could get him out of my mind, with only a thought on my mind. I had to find a way to keep his mouth shut.
I had to reject Alaric and find a way to stop everything he did to me. And soon, it was evening, and I was seated in front of a mirror after a hot bath that the maids drew for me.
I was lost in my thoughts about Alaric, trying to figure out why and how he had such a significant effect on me. It could not only be because we were mates. I was attracted to him, too, but was I that much attracted to a stranger?
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts, the maid in my hair rushing towards the entrance to open it. I watched her through the mirror as she conversed with whoever was there before she closed the door and approached me, placing a squared box in front of me.
"The maid claimed the Alpha asked you to wear this to the party. She said he had it made for the likes of you."
At the mention of Asher giving me something, I picked it up. My eyes were in a hurry as I peeled all the rap out. A smile lit up my face as I came in contact with the most adorable necklace I've ever seen in my entire life, not to talk of the engraved words on it,
"Princess…" I muttered, picking it up.
It was like a sparking gold that would catch many eyes on my neck, especially with all the glitters on the 'princess' word.
The smile on my face widened as I brought it to my neck, allowing it to rest on my skin. With a glance to the maid, she took it from me and wore it on my neck, smiling at the mirror with her eyes on it,
"The Alpha is thoughtful. He must love you for this."
I smiled more, nodding to myself. Asher loves me. Even the maid could see that Asher loved me. The only thing in my way was my mistake with his brother, which I had to clear before Asher figured it out.
"Dress me up quickly. I need to see him." I said to the maid with a proud smile.
Soon, she was done with my makeup, dressing me in a full gold princess gown. I stood before the full-length mirror, staring at my pretty self. I touched the arm of the shift, bringing it a little more down to balance the off-shoulder part.
The gown perfectly fit my upper body, stopping at my waist before bringing it accessible and comprehensive to the ankle bone of my feet. My hair was combed back, dropped to my core, and gave me a princess-style look.
"I love this," I muttered.
"I'm glad you love it." The maid muttered.
With a nod, I walked graciously out of the room, remembering the steps my dance master had taught me on walking out. Through my afternoon walk, I knew the way to the party room, and I didn't need to stress over it. I had just climbed the stairs when the door opened, turning my head to meet the eyes of my greatest nemesis.
My lips parted at the sight of him. If I had thought Asher was handsome, Alaric was smokingly hot and dangerously attractive. His long hair was raised high into a manly bun, his black eyes glowing effortlessly, and his dress, Gosh, was shimmering.
He wore a blue tailcoat with gold buttons and tiny glitters of gold at the neck, matching it with black pants.
"I know I'm hot, but you don't have to drool like that all over me." His voice brought me back to life, and I hurriedly composed myself.
As Alaric walked towards me, I felt my body tense, where we had stopped in the afternoon, coming over to me again. I cleared my throat and took a step back on the staircase, lowering my eyes to the ground,
"You look lovely, Princess. The maid did her work well."
I blushed internally. It was great he was complimenting me. At least, I'm not a bad match for his impeccable handsomeness.
"And that necklace fits you as I had imagined. I'm such a thoughtful person. I should have added 'MY' to it, My Princess. What do you think?"
My head snapped up instantly, my eyes widening as I stared at him in shock, "You…You made the necklace?"
"Who did you think is capable of such beauty, Princess? The maids? Or who?"
"I thought the Alpha Asher did this for me," I replied absent-mindedly, touching the engraved words.
A dark chuckle escaped his lips as he glanced away from me, returning to settle his eyes on me, "You think Asher has the time to make you a pretty necklace?"
"Well–"
"I did it for you, Princess. You're my mate. You deserve the best." He cut me off before I could reply.
"I'm not your mate," I replied instantly.
"I don't intend to accept you as my mate, Alaric Nightshade. I don't think we can work. You have a typical thing in you, your whole stance screaming that all women belong to you, and you belong to them also, and I, Audrey, cannot deal with that."
"So you're rejecting me?" He scoffed out.
"Nope. Nope. I'm pleading to you."
He lifted his brow, staring at me to continue with my words.
"I'm pleading to you to let everything between us be bygones. I don't want anyone to know that I slept with you, not to talk of the."
"My brother, is that it?"
I gulped down, noticing the conflicting emotion in his voice. I nodded at him, flickering my gaze somewhere else before sighing deeply. I heard a scoff from him, managing to take a look at him as he flexed his jaw.
"You like Asher that much? You like him so much that you're rejecting the great Alaric Nightshade, whom every lady would kill to lay on his bed with him?"
"Yes," I said without even thinking.
The hurt on his face could not be avoided, and he glared as he stared down at me. He scoffed again, nodding at me as he folded his arm to his back.
"Then…"
"You used me! If anyone is to be hurt, I should be. I called you, Asher, yet you didn't even stop me that night to tell me you were not! Don't go around carrying that face thinking I hurt you!"
"We better leave for the party, princess."
Without further utterance, he walked off, leaving me by the stairs. I closed my eyes for a brief moment.
"Audrey, you shouldn't be sad. You did nothing. He's at fault. It's not your fault." I chanted to myself.
After deeply comforting myself, I opened my eyes and went to the party. The hall was booming with guests and park members dressed in the finest silks and gold clothes. My heart beamed with joy as I sighted Asher talking to someone. I was going to meet him when the hall lights went off.
"It is time for the Alphas to find their mate." A voice from one angle or a place said.
They turned on the light again; this time, everyone had settled, putting Asher and Alaric in front of the room. My eyes clashed with Alaric's, and a part of my heart ached as he took it off me in a heartbeat. I watched as the priestess gave them two cups, both drinking from it, and a loud growl instantly left their mouths.
Suddenly, something snapped at me. Nope, Drea snapped at me, and I instantly began to feel the heat all over me.
"What's going on, Drea? Alaric is our mate. You don't need to do this. We know it already." I mind-linked her, scratching my whole body simultaneously, trying to keep myself from flying over to him and pinning him down in front of the crowd.
Alaric did not even bother to go through the crowd, walking towards me and bringing murmurs to the mouths of everyone.
"She’s my mate.” He announced for all of them to hear.
I could feel different eyes staring at me, the ladies he belonged to, malicious gaze on my body, death intent, already cursing in their mind why I had stolen the man that belonged to them. But that was not the end, as Drea did not calm down.
Suddenly, Asher stopped before me, our gaze locked with my heart beating rapidly.
No. No. It can’t be. It can’t be.
“She’s my mate too.” He announced without breaking our gaze.
Audrey’s POV “She’s my mate, too,”Asher’s words echoed in my ear. Everything paused inside my thoughts, the eyes of the gleaming girls scorching on my skin, and even my wolf, Drea. Everything went still, leaving me with just my thoughts. How are Asher and Alaric both, my mate? How did it happen? I had thought it would only be Alaric, but yet. I gulped down, darting my eyes between the two brothers, who seemed to be fighting a silent battle with their eyes as if proclaiming both of their territories on me. I wanted to feel special then, with the little I’d heard from the maids. Both brothers were hot and the most wanted by all ladies, and I think I’d been blessed with them as mates. “I want her, Asher. I knew she was my mate and won’t beat around the bush. I want her to be mine.” I heard Alaric say, the rest of my thoughts going to the back of my head as I blinked rapidly. “Nope!” I shouted before even Asher could respond. The loud gasp from the females made me realise what I
Alaric’s POVFuck! I wish I could sweep her off her feet and take her to my room to fuck her until she moaned out my name. I clenched my jaw hard as her brown orbs kept inviting me in, wanting me to take her right there. Fuck! The way her throat moved, only if she knew she had the same effect on me as I had on her. “Hmm…” I continued, wanting to hear her response. If she said something about not being sure or yes, I swear to the moon goddess, I would lead her right in the face of everyone and take her to the room. “You can go and fuck yourself.” After a while, she said, her lips turned into a mocking smile as she walked away from me.I smirked as I watched her leave, my eyes roaming every part of her body. In my thoughts, the things I would love to do to her body. She was the first woman to have that effect on me, or probably because she was my mate. I couldn’t help but wonder if Asher was feeling that same way about her, wanting to be with her every time, hot for her, wanting to
Asher’s POVHer eyes were comforting, she looked so attractive, and her heart was innocent as I’ve surveyed her. She bowed her head again in shyness, probably the twentieth she had done. She was blushing profusely, all the nerves she had in communicating with Alaric while he went just like that like a flick of a finger. I let out a deep sigh, my brows creased and my lips on a tight line as I tried to study her. Audrey has been a very beautiful lady whom I’ve admired from afar. l shook my head as I smiled a little, remembering the words she had spouted out back then and those she did when Alaric was here. Was I that charming? A handsome man who she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. My hand flew to my mouth, stopping the little laugh mixed with a scoff that wanted to come out.“Is there anything wrong, Asher? Is your wrong with your mouth?” She voiced out, her lashes fluttering at me.I smiled at her, lowering my hand to my sides, Nothing, Princess. I’m fine.” And just like
Audrey’s POVNever in my life have I wished for someone’s death like I did for Alaric right now. If he wanted to say something, he could have waited for us to finish and break it. But nope, he was just a jealous wolf who could not keep his eyes off me and his mouth shut.“Of all places, brother, you chose this place. To taunt me or what?” He said, drawing out a chair before sitting down.Asher walked away from me and towards the opposite side of the long table, drawing out a chair and taking a seat to face Alaric. I darted my eyes at both of them, Alaric’s eyes clashing with mine and flashing a smile at me while I replied by rolling my eyes. Alaric stood up as I walked towards the table, pulling out the chair beside him for me before I got to him. With a mournful smile, I walked past him toward the center and took my seat.“I see that you have something to say, Alaric.” Asher started.Alaric nodded at me with tight lips, pulling the chair back inside before retaking his seat. He lean
Alaric’s POVI’ve always hated mornings. To me, mornings were just the beginning of a horrible day. But this morning felt different, and I could feel it the instant I woke up and the first thing that came to my mind was her, My Princess. The events of last night replayed in my head. After I had left her in the room, I had called for one of the women who would kill to lay with me and spend a long night with her, one that I didn’t enjoy because I kept thinking of her. A smile crept to my lips, taking my last thought off my head and a new one. It was a new morning, one to taunt my Princess and keep trying to get her inside my bed. I stood up from the bed and rang the bell. The maids immediately swept into the room while I went to bathe. The moment I was done and dressed, the room was sparkling clean, making it look like no one had ever used it.That was one thing I enjoyed out of all the perks of being the Alpha. I loved my space clean, and they brought out the best of it. I grinned in
Audrey’s POV“Lock the door.” I heard him say. I gulped down instantly, roaming through my head, wondering what Alaric could do to me. I started imagining his hand on me, his voice in my ears, but everything was shut down as he breezed past me, closing the door and coming to slam me against it.He was so close, his lips so close, his breath fanning against my face. I stared deepinto his eyes, not wanting to bow down to any effect he might be thinking he hason me.“Audrey…” he staggered to say, blinking away from me and to my chest.“Why?”I bore the same look on my face at his question. He has acted so stupid and irrational, and I would not give in to whatever he had to say. Calling me out in front of the maids, making me look like I was just a thing for him and forAsher. Nope, I inhaled sharply. I was not going to give in.How he looked up at me next made all my resolve break, our eyes meeting instantly. His black orbs were soft as if pleading with me. His lips were quivering as h
Audrey’s PovI didn't know if i packed my clothes from the floor, or if i wore them myself, all i knew was that i was fully clothed when i got back to the room, with a hole in my stomach from lack of energy, a deep sensation crawling in my stomach, down to my thighs wanting more of Alaric to fill me up. His words rang in my head again as I slumped to the bed. “Only I, princess, can satisfy you that way.” he said before walking away. That was not entirely true. Or even true at all. How dare he say something like that? with just two times of having sex, and him being the first person i've had sex with. I scoffed out at the thought of it. I have not even touched Asher to know that. What if Asher was better than him? What if instead of what I feel with Alaric, I feel more of it with Asher? “I don’t think Asher wants to touch you that way,” My wolf mindlinked me.“Well, you don't know it. I’m his mate, there’s no way he won’t want to touch me. If Alaric is wanting to touch me, I don't s
Asher's POVI thought the kiss would work. Leaning to kiss the back of her fingers, I thought fingers would work. But at least I got a sweet smile from her. As I led her to the table, only one thought stayed in my mind, and that was that she was gorgeous. The desire I've seen in Alaric's eyes, everything was starting to make sense. I could sense her nervousness, but I could not say anything to stop that, so I didn't bother. With a sweet smile plastered to my face, I pulled out the chair for her as she took her seat before walking to mine. I had figured she might be hungry since Alaric cut the breakfast short, and I didn't see her eating much last night, so I set this up. I had just some hours to spare this morning since my pack meeting won't happen till afterward, and I've decided to get to know her. After all her loving speech, this was the least I could do for her."Well, I figured you might be hungry, so why not prepare this?" I said, meeting her eyes and hoping to lighten up th
