Chapter Fourteen

Rush

All the breath I had been holding waiting for Mazy to tell me who hurt her leaves my body at once. Somehow, I find myself on my knees. I’ve gone from feeling immense guilt and shame to depression, to anger and now…. I can’t even think of emotion, let alone feel it.

“Hey.” She touches my cheek, making me face her, “I’m sorry for keeping her from you. If I had known. Goddess, if I only knew.”

This isn’t real. I finally find my Mazy and now I have a daughter. I shake my head and sit on the couch, staring at my mate in wonder. That pain that night was crazy. It went on for hours and hours.

“You were giving birth to our daughter for two days?”

“Birth was 35 minutes. The Labor went on for two and a half days.” She smiles. “Totally worth it in the end.”

I remember the feeling, a feeling of contented happiness. I have a daughter and her name is Charlotte. “Charlotte,” I whisper her name out loud.

“Yes, her name is Charlotte. I call her Lotty, she prefers it.” An unfamiliar warmth
