Lucas’s Pov (a few days later)

The conference room as I walked in was eerie silent. I didn’t have to look around to know that Victor had not yet arrived. Even though I wasn’t the one that called the meeting somehow my father and everyone else still acted like they were looking at a ghost.

Whenever I looked at someone they quickly looked down and were busing themself with either their phone or some paperwork. It seemed like I had instilled feel in everyone here.

When I got to my father he looked up at me with a forced smile. “How is everything going for you?” He asked as he looked back down towards his paperwork.

I was silent as I sat down in my seat and turned my attention towards everyone that was sitting around the table. It seemed like everyone besides Victor and Bethany’s father were here yet.

I already knew that Victor would be throwing his anger and resentment towards me as soon as he got here. He most likely regretted choosing me instead of someone else to marry Bella.
