Chapter 6

Luke met Evans

The rooster is crowing. It was a beautiful morning. Light to feel. When I woke up I immediately saw Luke still asleep on my sofa. I stared at him for a long time. I suddenly thought, what if he's always here? Maybe it's nice that I wake up every morning when I see him. I want to kiss his red lips. I want to smell his hair. I can smell his perfume even when I'm far away. I watched to stare at him even more. I sat on his side close to his face and looked down. I caressed his face gently. I parted his hair with my hand. He suddenly moved and I was thrown back into my seat. I stood up in fear that he might have felt it. When I turned around, someone suddenly pulled my hand. He pulled me and I fell on him. He hugged me and I could see he was laughing. My forehead furrowed and I thought, maybe he saw what I did.

Embarrassing. But why is this? The speed of my heartbeat went fast as if it will explode in any moment. He was staring at me and I was stunned. I wanted to stand up but he held me so tightly. I stopped at the thought of him suddenly speaking.

"I saw you! What are you doing to my face ah? Don't tell me you like me?" He said with a trick.

Suddenly I stood up and hit him with a pillow.

"What are you saying! There's dirt on your face so I came near you and cleaned your face! Why would I like you when you're not my type!" I lied to him.

"I'm telling you Leigh, you can't fall in love with me!" He said while laughing.

"You're really crazy!" I was ashamed of him.

He got up and put his arm around me. We went down to the kitchen to cook breakfast. As we walk downstairs, my mommy was sitting in the living room. She looked at me and she smiled and stared at us and at the same time she winked at me as if she was trying to tease me. I laughed at her secretly. My mother is so funny. Well she support me all the way. That is why I so much loved her.

We went straight to the kitchen to start cooking. I assigned Luke to cook since he is good at it and I was the one who cut the ingredients. Mommy kept looking at the two of us as well as I kept laughing. Luke looked at me in surprise. He was probably wondering why I was laughing.

"What are you? Why are you laughing so hard there. Maybe you're thrilled." He said he was sympathetic.

"Stop there. Even if I'm thrilled here, you won't like it, will you?" I said as if shocked.

He stared at me suddenly. Maybe he was shocked by what I have said.

"Don't think about that! Let's finish this so we can have breakfast too" I looked at him with a smile.

"Okay" He said as if disappointed.

We finished cooking and prepared food at the table. Mommy already take her breakfast so Luke and I ate together. I suddenly start the conversation because he was so quiet.

"So after this are you going home?" I asked him.

"Do you want me to go home right now?" He looked at me as if disgusted.

"It's not like that. Maybe your mommy is looking for you." I said.

"After that, I'll go home I don't feel you want me here anymore." He answered me with a pissed tone.

I feel like he was disappointed at me earlier. I took his hand and smiled.

"No matter what happens, I'm still your friend. I'm still Leigh who's always here for you. Don't think about what I said earlier. I'm just kidding, you're too serious." Apologies to him.

"I know that. Let's eat." He smiled as he said this.

We finished breakfast. He helped me clean up the table and a few minutes later he decided to go home as discussed. I led him out of the gate. I didn't want him to leave but I was already in the situation. He waved goodbye. I just nodded and turned away. Walked into the house and went straight to the living room. When I sat down, I immediately thought of him again. Less than a few seconds after he left I miss him. Why is that?

I shouldn’t have pushed him away. Self -remorse. And since it's Saturday, I've planned what to do for tomorrow because there's no school yet. I went upstairs and saw in my bag the card Evans had given me. I saw his contact number there. I sat down on the sofa and immediately picked up the phone. I called Evans.

(Phone Rings)

"Hello. This is Evans. What do they need?"

"Hi! It's Leigh. Do you remember me?" I asked him.

"Of course! I've been waiting a long time for your call. It's good that you thought of contacting me." He replied with a happy tone.

"I'm sorry I am too busy I forgot too. I called because I have nothing to do tomorrow. Can I go to your studio?" I asked him.

"Of course! As I said you can visit whenever you want." His tone was happy.

"Good then. So, I'll go there tomorrow after lunch. I'll call you again." I said.

"Okay all right. I'll expect that Leigh." He replied.

"Okay bye! See you tomorrow." I say goodbye.

After dropping the phone, I immediately felt a bit of pleasure. Maybe I'm happy because I talked to him again. I remembered Evans's face again. Maybe it's not bad to like him. Maybe no one would object, right? I shook my head and told myself I couldn't. I can’t afford to forget Luke.

Nice morning, today is Sunday. As I promised to myself that I was leaving later after lunch to have fun. I rolled over on my bed. It's so soft. It's like I don't want to get up. I was shocked when I suddenly saw Luke’s face sitting on my sofa. I sat up in shock. I threw him a pillow.

"What are you! I'm going to die of nervousness. I thought of ghosts, you were really annoying!" I said with annoyance.

"Hahaha! It's fun to watch you sleep. You snore too loud just like a man." He laughed and said as if he was about to tease.

"Wait! And what are you doing here? Today is Sunday you should be there with the family or Cara." I asked him.

"Cara is busy right now. I called her earlier. But she seems to be in a hurry and she doesn't want to talk to me." He replied with a bow and looking sad suddenly.

I felt pity again. What is Cara so busy with and she doesn't seem to have time for Luke anymore.

"So what's your plan now? I still have a walk later after lunch." I break up the conversation.

"Where are you going?" He wondered.

"I'm going to Evans' studio. I was planning on jamming because I'm not doing anything today." My answer.

"Evans? Who is he? Why does it seem like I just heard his name for the first time?" He asked in astonishment.

"Oh, of course. I met him when I went to the theater. He's a professional musician." I said.

"So? You are going to him even if it's the first time you've met?" He asked me.

"Sure. He's a nice guy and I know I can get along with him." My answer.

"I'm coming!" He insisted.

I stared at him. Is he jealous of Evans? I can't help it but my heart is happy. Maybe there's a chance he'll like me. I pretended not to be thrilled.

"Okay. Then get ready and we'll leave in the next 2 hours." I told him.

He immediately stood up, looked at me and stared. He left the room without saying anything. When he came out, I rolled on the bed. I was so happy and I felt like he was jealous. I couldn't help but shudder.

I immediately took care of myself. Have breakfast and then go to the bathroom. Bathed and immediately dressed. Luke is already in the living room and waiting. When he saw me down the stairs he stared at me. I wore a red dress and curled my hair. Maybe he was surprised by how I dressed.

"Why are you dressed like that?" He asked.

"Why? Doesn't it matter?" I asked with astonishment.

"No. It's your thing, you look like a woman now." He said jokingly.

I immediately pulled him out and walked to the taxi stand. As we walked he was still staring at me.

"I'm going to melt. What's the matter?" I asked him.

"Is he the man you say you like?" He asked me.

I was stunned I remembered that I had told him I liked something and I would introduce him at the right time. I shook.

"No. You're mistaken. Evans is just my friend and I'm unlikely to like him." I reply.

"Good." She gasped.

To stop the conversation, I immediately hailed a taxi and got on.

"Please take us to the Salvatore Studio in St. Louis Village." I said to the driver.

"Okay maam." He replied.

A few minutes later we arrived at the destination. I immediately got out of the taxi and rang the doorbell. A handsome man came out. Tall and jaw dropping, he came out smiling but when he saw Luke he was immediately surprised.

"Hi Leigh! You didn't say you had bring someone with you." Evans said.

"I'm sorry for all of a sudden. I didn't tell you right away. By the way, Luke is my childhood bestfriend. Luke this is Evans and the owner of this studio." I said to introduce the two of them.

They stared at each other. Evans held out his hand and it took a few seconds before Luke reached out his hand. Evans smiled at him but Luke's face remained serious. I immediately spoke up.

"Let's go in. I want to see your studio." I said.

Evans escorted us into his studio. I was amazed at what I saw. Lots of instruments. The piano was so good I immediately sat down and started playing. Evans came over to me and sat down next to me. He helps me play the piano. As he taught me I saw Luke in the corner staring at us. He was staring at us and he was obviously not in the mood. Maybe he was jealous. But why would he be jealous? We are just friends. I stopped when he suddenly stood up and answered his phone.

"Cara, what's up?" Luke said.

"Okay go ahead I'm going there." He said more.

My forehead frowned. He did not say goodbye and immediately left the studio. I was a little angry with him because why did he do that. The whole day passed. I decided to go home. Evans took me home because it was late at night and it was dangerous to walk alone. When we get in front of my house, I get out of his car.

"Thank you Evans. I enjoyed today." I said.

"Thank you too and for visiting. Next time. Let's meet again." She said smiling.

I nodded and immediately entered the house.
