Chapter 7: Two Too Many

*Krell*

Sh*t! Sh*t! Sh*t!

What's going on with these two guys? I thought this would be a private dinner and that Mia had p invited me for a private dinner.

That guy called Simon was even cooking with Mia in the kitchen. They were chatting and laughing, and he even touched Mia's hand!

Simon, Simon! This uninvited guest!

Wait a minute, Simon? It was such a familiar name... He was Warshrine pack's successor! How did he know Mia? Could it be because of Mia's identity?

I felt the veins in my temples begin to pound. Locas alone was already difficult enough to deal with, but now there was someone else, Simon.

"Krell." Locas sat opposite me and called me. He smelled the same as Mia. He used Mia's shower gel! Locas must have done it on purpose.

"Krell." Locas deliberately loosened his collar, which made her scent on him even clearer. "Don't be so serious. Mia only invited us to her house to thank us. It seems that you're not so special after all. You have to eat with all of us, not a candlelight dinner for two."

Damn it! Locas liked to say things that pissed me off. He clearly saw how Mia was intoxicated by my kiss and how protective I was of Mia. Although we didn't have a formal ceremony to confirm our relationship, I had clearly become the most special one in Mia's heart!

Ever since Locas had asked me for Mia, I hadn't had anything nice to say to him. I firmly believed that it would be the same this time, so keeping silent was the best choice.

The food was already on the table. Mia sat beside me.

I couldn't help but hook Mia's little finger under the table. However, Mia looked at Locas and Simon worriedly. She moved her hand away from mine. She rejected me! Just because of those two guys!

Mia announced the start of dinner. My attention shifted to the meal.

The steak was cooked just about medium well, the red wine emitted a strong aroma after it was placed, and the salad glowed seductively under the light.

It was a good dinner. It turned out that Mia was a good cook.

But I was not in the mood to eat.

I saw the moon goddess necklace around Simon's neck. It was identical to the one Mia had put on me in the office.

F*ck!

The necklace and meals were never exclusive to me! I realized that I was not special in Mia's heart!

A wave of strong anger surged in my heart. I couldn't stand Mia's closeness to others, and I couldn't accept that Mia wasn't mine alone. I left this dinner party and this four-person game.

*Mia*

It was a week later at the annual Moon Ball. The gorgeous crystal chandelier, the champagne glasses that were piled up to three feet high, and the men and women in luxurious clothes all showed the luxury and liveliness of this ball.

Sofia and I were sitting on a soft sofa and chatting.

"Mia, why are you still standing here? Why aren't you taking advantage of the Moon Ball to dance a few more times with the boss? You should at least consider the promotion and salary increase! He's so busy. If you don't take the initiative, he will definitely forget about you." Sofia urged me to look for Krell.

"I don't think that's necessary... We danced already… once… at the beginning," I stammered.

"What's wrong with you and the boss?" Sofia asked concerned. "You didn't say anything to him when you danced, did you?"

"I don't know..." I also felt strange about the way Krell and I got along lately.

We didn't talk at all. Actually, I didn't know why either. Ever since we parted on bad terms at the thank-you dinner, we hadn't said anything else.

"You can't do this. You have to talk about your problems face to face," Sofia said seriously as if she were a relationship expert.

Yes, I should make things clear with Krell, but what should I say? What exactly was the relationship between us? That failed thank-you dinner made me feel very embarrassed, and later on, he didn't explain why he left. Our relationship... Perhaps he got tired of it and took the initiative to distance himself. We were now purely on professional boss-employee terms.

I subconsciously ignored the frustration in my heart and felt a little indignant. Did I do something wrong? Wasn't Krell the one who left without a word of explanation or apology?

I finally gave in and searched for Krell at the ball.

More than half an hour of searching made me sweat profusely. I was already very tired.

Just as I was about to give up, I saw a door. At the end of the corridor and also the end of the long red carpet, there was the last lounge. The door was half hidden in the curtain, so it was easy to miss.

There seemed to be some rustling coming from inside.

I raised my hand and knocked on the door, but a gust of wind blew open the door that was already ajar. I stepped into the room and almost tripped over an empty wine glass that was rolling on the floor.

My eyes widened in shock when I saw the scene in the lounge.

Two tall men in suits stood in the middle of the lounge. They were Krell and Locas. Krell was slightly taller than Locas and looked down at Locas. Locas was holding a glass of red wine in his hand, but he was splashed with wine.

"Krell, what are you doing!" Locas shouted at Krell. His expression was no longer calm and pleasant.

It seemed that Krell had splashed wine on Locas.

Locas's curly hair was wet from the wine and no longer fluffy. It stuck to his face and temples, which was a strong contrast to his usually impeccable appearance.

Everyone turned to look at Locas. The stares from the others made Locas feel even more embarrassed. He grabbed Krell's collar and glared at him.

"What do you mean? You started all of this nonsense!" Krell raised his eyebrows. His blue eyes were filled with unconcealed anger.

What was going on? What had happened between Locas and Krell?

"Locas..." I rushed forward and took a napkin to wipe the wine off Locas.

"Here you are, Mia." Locas suddenly smiled when he saw me. He stopped me and took my hand, bringing it to his mouth.

My hand was still covered with red wine, which was dripping down my hand. Locas stuck out his tongue and slowly licked the wine on my hand. I saw that Locas's gaze was always fixed on Krell. It was a provocative look with the smugness of a victor and an indescribable cunningness.

The feeling on my fingers made my mind go blank, and I couldn't help but clench my other hand. He seemed reluctant to part with the sweetness of my hand and sucked my little finger one last time.

Krell swung his fist at Locas. With a bang, Locas was knocked to the ground. A bruise immediately appeared on his face, and a trail of blood flowed down the corner of his mouth.

"Locas!" I couldn't help but shout. I wanted to check on his injuries.

However, Krell did not give me that chance. He leaned down and wrapped his arm around my arm. Then I felt a lightness in my body and was carried by Krell.

"Oh, moon goddess!"

The crowd gasped. They were all surprised by Krell's actions.

"Put me down, Krell! There are so many people watching!" I shouted and kept slapping Krell's back.

Krell completely ignored me.

"Put me down!" I shouted again. "Why did you hit Locas?"

I thought that Krell would ignore me, but he stopped. His big hand slapped my butt twice. The slap was so heavy that it was embarrassing.

"You are not allowed to mention him!" Krell shouted, attracting even more attention from the others.

The feeling of shame made my cheeks burn up to my neck.

And I was carried all the way frome the lounge with everyone watching.

Finally, when we reached the rooftop, Krell put me down. My feet touched the ground.

"Krell, what's wrong with you? Why did you splash wine on Locas?" I questioned him.

"Why did you dance with Locas?" Krell's voice was surprisingly low, like a deep pool at the bottom of the valley. It was as if there was an unknown beast lurking that could devour me whole.

Dancing with Locas? Oh, right. We danced three times in a row.

"Answer me!" Krell roared. He shook my shoulder violently. "I saw everything. Why did you dance with Locas? I was only out for a short while, and then you were with him!"

"Why can't I?" I hated the feeling of being reprimanded for no reason. It made me feel I was as cheap as a slave. Anger made me speak without thinking. "I'm single. Why can't I go looking for my mate?"

Krell let go of my shoulder. He put his arms around me and hugged me tightly.

"You're my mate!" Krell roared. His chest heaved violently. "You can only be mine!"

"We're just pretending!" I pushed Krell away.

I turned to leave, but Krell grabbed my wrist from behind.

"If you dare to leave... If you dare to leave me..." Krell's chest rose and fell as he said, "You will regret it!"

That commanding tone again. I couldn't understand why he was being unreasonable. He was always angry for no reason, and I hated it even more when he ordered me around like that.

"I regret it so much! I regret knowing you!" I turned my head and shouted. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I fought to keep them from falling.

I shook off Krell's hand and left the rooftop.
