Chapter 8: A Good Match

*Edward*

Oh, what did I see?

Who were the two people hugging on the rooftop? They were so close together that it reminded me of when my wife and I were young. But that didn't matter anymore because the girl pushed Krell away. They separated, and I saw their faces.

Those two people were actually Krell and Mia? I thought I might have been wrong. Their confrontation didn't last long before I saw Mia run away. She was furious.

Mia, this bold girl, actually rejected Krell. That was our supreme alpha. Many women were crazy for him!

"Krell?" I moved closer to him.

Krell saw me and lit a cigarette.

The night wind blew through his hair, which was no longer tidily arranged and folded haphazardly over his head. The distant neon lights shone on his face, outlining the sharp bridge of his nose and the handsome line of his brow.

I had to admit that our leader was really handsome. I felt that Mia was not worth him wasting so much energy and emotions.

"What are you doing here?" Not surprisingly, Krell didn't want me to see his disappointment and loss of control.

As Krell's beta, it was my duty to keep Krell sober. "You shouldn't fall in love with Mia."

"Why?" Krell's voice was extremely low. That was usually a sign that he was about to flare up. However, he was suppressing his anger. I was grateful for his patience in that moment toward me.

Oh, why?

The answer to that question couldn't have been more obvious.

"My most respected Alpha, you should remember the reason why you approached Mia in the first place. Don't let your emotions get in the way of our mission." My mind was clear enough, and my words were calm enough.

"Edward." Krell took a drag of his cigarette. He always liked to smoke when he was thinking. "Have you ever thought that perhaps there's more than one path to our goals? Other than controlling Mia, there might be another way. For example, making her fall in love with me and willingly help our pack."

I watched the smoke gradually spread in the air and then completely dissipate. Okay, I admitted that this was indeed a good idea. If Krell and Mia could become real mates, it would be very beneficial to our pack.

I understood Krell's meaning. However, what he said next confused me again.

"I like Mia. She's the first woman who makes me feel special. I want to possess her and have her. I want to rub her into my body. I can't bear to see her being intimate with others! This feeling is clearly something only between mates, but why can't she realize it?" Krell got more and more and more agitated as he spoke.

I finally understood that Krell's action against Mia this time was not just about profit, like any of his previous decisions. He really liked Mia, and although this might make him lose himself, I decided to firmly support my alpha.

*Mia*

"Mia, tell him this later..."

My mind recalled Sofia's words to me again when I found her again. This was the third time I had seen a little girl's shy expression on her face. As for the previous two times, the first time was when Locas saved us, and the second time was when we were 12 years old.

Memories of the past gradually came back to me. I could remember that Sofia and I were 12 years old and had to wait tables in food shops to make ends meet.

On a thunderous night, because the restaurant floor was too slippery, Sofia accidentally spilled food on the customer's clothes. The pot bellied man was furious and was about to slap Sofia when a slender and strong hand suddenly stopped him.

"Sir, why do you want to make things difficult for a little girl?"

That was Locas.

At that time, Sofia was already scared silly. I quickly rushed over to protect her and repeatedly bowed to thank this kind gentleman. However, Locas only smiled indifferently.

The greasy middle-aged wanted to continue shouting, but he was persuaded to leave by Locas with a wad of dollars.

"That's enough for ten new shirts!"

Only then did the fatty walk away in embarrassment.

Locas turned his head and smiled. He stroked Sofia's head, gently reassured her not to be afraid, and slipped her a business card.

However, Sofia seemed to have lost her ability to speak. She stared fixedly at the tall man opposite her, and her face turned redder and redder...

It wasn't until Locas walked away that Sofia hugged me excitedly and said she wanted to be a woman matching him.

I was such a terrible friend. I should have recognized that Locas was the man that Sofia had been attached to for many years. I knew she would never change. She had fallen deeply for Locas.

Now, at the Moon Ball, she begged me to put in a good word for her in front of Locas in order to dance with him.

I danced with Locas for a total of three times, but he kept showing off and bragging so it didn't give me a chance to tell him. Then Locas left with Krell, and I didn't find him until I found them arguing in the lounge.

I calmed down in the bathroom. After briefly tidying up my makeup, I stood in front of Locas.

This time, he probably wouldn't talk nonsense.

"Mia, what's the matter?" Locas called me. His hair had been styled and was as romantic and charming as before. He was still in his suit.

After ascertaining that Krell had not seriously injured him, I told Locas directly why I had come.

"Can you dance with Sofia? She's a good girl."

"Sofia? Ah, I remember now. That lady who's always with you, right? She is indeed a beauty." Locas praised Sofia.

"So, do you agree?" I asked.

Locas's eyes were curved. Even the bruise on his face could not hide the charm of his seductive amber eyes.

"Of course. How could I bear to reject a beautiful lady? Besides, she's your friend. I don't want to hurt you two beauties."

Locas agreed!

This made me extremely happy and gave me a sense of accomplishment. I couldn't wait to state my next request.

"Sofia is really beautiful and has a good figure. Most importantly, she's the most hardworking person I've ever met. She's the first omega to join Krell's company!" I listed the merits of Sofia and was filled with pride. "Can you try to get to know her? She really likes you. She's so outstanding, and I promise she won't let you down!"

At this point, I noticed that Locas no longer looked gentle and mild. His mouth twitched, and he looked a little unhappy.

"Do you know what you're saying?" Locas asked me.

"I'm helping Sofia pursue you." I knew exactly what I was doing.

"Even if I become the mate of that lady?" Locas asked again. I could see the aggression in his eyes.

"You two are a good match," I replied.

What a perfect couple! Locas was elegant and gentle, and Sofia was beautiful and outstanding. What a perfect match!

"Are you sure?" Locas's grip was tightened.

I felt a little pain and nodded.

Wasn't that good? Why was Locas angry?

The next moment, my lips felt warm, and Locas kissed me on the lips.

It reminded me of Krell's kiss just now. I pushed fearfully at Locas's chest.

However, Locas completely ignored me. He gripped my wrists in one hand and raised them above my head. I staggered two steps and was pressed against a wall by Locas. I could no longer step backward.

My legs started kicking Locas restlessly.

"Mia," Locas called me again. "It hurts!"

Did the injury from Krell's punch start to hurt again? After all, it was such a heavy punch.

I didn't dare to use too much strength.

However, just as my strength relaxed, he took action again.

Locas tongues finally invaded my mouth. He swept every inch of my mouth rhythmically. He licked the roof of my mouth seductively.

"Mmm..." I was almost out of breath, but Locas continued to kiss me. I started to feel a little dizzy.

I was actually kissing Sofia's crush! How sad would she be if she knew? How could I do this?

"How come you can't even take a breath?" Locas finally left my lips. He chuckled and kissed my forehead to calm my uneasiness.

"But Sofia..." I tried to refuse, but he interrupted me.

"Mia, don't you want to test me for your best friend?" Locas looked at me perplexed, as if I was completely wrong to reject him.

"That's not... Mmm..." I was about to refuse when he pressed me against the wall and kissed me again.

I didn't expect him to do this. I frowned and subconsciously raised my hand to slap his shoulder.

However, this slap landed on his wound, and he frowned in some pain.

Well, he didn't seem to be lying. He was really in pain...

To make it up to him, I closed my eyes and let him kiss me, reveling in the kiss with him.

Suddenly, the door unlocked with a click.

"What are you doing?"

It was the voice of Krell!
