He’s right there.

So close that if I slip my arms through the bar gaps I could wrap my hands around his throat and choke him to death. But I know I couldn’t, I wanted to, yet I’d be dead before I can make it happen. His face was just like in the picture, but with more gray hairs peppering on his head and wrinkles creasing on his forehead.

Ten years changed him so much, but I know it was still the same monster that once ruled this place. He had a thick accent that I couldn’t decipher which country it was coming from.

If only Nancy wasn’t here with me, I would have already taken the chance to lunge into the steel bars and claw his face.

She was cowering and whimpering against me. I could feel her traumas flashing before her eyes triggered by the electrical hum vibrating from the single bulb suspended above us. I protectively wrapped my arms around her, hoping that I could offer her some sense of protection even though I am as helpless as a fly caught in a piece of sticky paper.
