Chapter 45: Obstinacy

The cracking sound of my palm colliding with the surface of his face ricocheted off the otherwise silence that surrounded us. The impact whips his head sideways while the pain skittered from my palm up to my arm, causing my shoulders to scream in protest.

It happened too fast.

Even I was surprised at how my own reflexes reciprocated my anger with such violent behavior.

Fear immediately followed right after I realized what I had done. I took an instinctive step back and cradled my throbbing arm as the twins stared at me both in bewilderment. But I could make out a hint of amusement on their gazes as though seeing a woman feet shorter than their size could conjure such force.

I must admit, it felt like I have dislocated my wrist and the ball connecting my arm to my shoulder.

“Okay, that’s one way of saying a better hello.” Davien chuckled, shaking his head in amazement. I swallowed hard when I noticed him wipe the small drop of blood that oozed from the corner of his mouth.
