“This place is amazing,” Nancy gushed out with her eyes wandering around the vicinity of my room and fixating her gaze on the overlooking city nightlights on the balcony. She arrived just a moment ago and specifically told Damon to give us time alone.

Thankfully, he didn’t argue and left.

“It is even more amazing during the daytime, particularly when the sun first begins to rise,” I said, leaning my shoulders at the steel jam reinforced at the glass door.

Her shoulders dropped, and she spun around, glaring at me and crossing her arms. I knew what was coming when Nancy’s face glowered, so I braced myself for a barrage of reproof to come flying my way.

“I’m still upset why you haven’t contacted me for two days.” She held up two fingers, took a deep breath, and continued to chastise me.

“Two days, Cara. I’ve been calling you nonstop, and you’re not answering your phone. I was worried sick about getting kidnap again until Damon reached me and told me you’ve been staying with him.
