"All's well that ends well" was the phrase that rang through Mikayla's mind on the ride back home.

Finally, she and Cael were a thing; an item. She felt as giddy as a high school girl with a crush.

One would think, from how intense this felt, that they'd just gotten married rather than just started dating.

Honestly it felt almost the same. She'd always been skeptical about marriage having seen how it played out firsthand in her own living room growing up.

She wasn't convinced that it was worth it. After all she'd seen and experienced herself, it seemed to be nothing better than a sham.

But still, she'd always held out hope that she would one day find a man who would love and respect her.

A man who would stay true to his vows and not embarass her like all those men did.

Then she'd found Bernie and knew with full confidence that he was the kind of man she could count on.
