My peace was that she was safe, somewhere far away from a man who would kill her to gain it all. Since her departure, Gerald and I kept at arms length because I confronted him and blamed him for her departure.

The day she went missing, he called me and informed me about it. “This is the second time she has gone missing now!! What the heck is wrong with that woman”, he blasted on the phone.

I played along till it was over a week. When he had done and searched all through the city, I slammed him face to face. I had walked in several times when he would hit and abuse her but just once had I defended her.
