Drizzling of rain started to fall and Bethany and I decided to head back home since it was already minutes pass seven, I changed back to my clothes since the weather was getting uncomfortably cold.
The ride home was excruciating, Bethany kept on blabbering about the kiss and how cute the stranger was. I quickly urge her to stop me when we were few miles from my house.
"Okay, if you insist" She shrugged. "But I doubt you will find a cab".
"I know, I plan on walking home" I said coming down.
"Come on Bethany it's already late and you know I won't mind taking you home."
"I feel cold, jogging home will keep me warm, our doctor also suggested i do that in situations like this." I lied.
"Alright, see you in school on Monday" She waved and zoomed off.
I exhale deeply, I had aways detested walking home late at night but that was the only option I had to escape from Bethany blabbering. I placed my headphone on my ears as I jogged towards my neighborhood. I listened to my favorite running playlist and was high on adrenaline. I wasn't paying attention, I wasn't watching where my feet landed as I took the free feeling for granted.
I tripped.
One second, I was speeding along the trail, wind rushing past me, and the next I was skidding to a halt. Slamming into the pavement, knee first. It burned immediately and I cried out, yanking my headphones from my ears and rolling to a stop on the ground, which was wet from the the recent rain. Cold seeped through the seat of my sweat pants. And my ankle, oh my ankle hurt bad. It must had been twisted on my way down. Maybe it was sprained or broken.
Blood was bleeding up so fast from the gash on my knee, changing the greyish color of my sweat pant to dark red. I covered it with my hands, pressing, as I looked willdly around me. I was in the middle of nowhere. The road light flinched and the sound of crickets echoed through the empty street. I hadn't seen anyone on the way up.
No food. No water. And no one knew I was even here. It could be hours before anyone finds me, I might even spend my night here.
All I could do was sit there. Think about my life. All the crappy part of it. But I could be a better person. Volunteer or something. Go to church.
Eat fewer Chicken soup.
I could do that, if I were only to be rescued. All I need is a tall and handsome someone to come running up this trail. Someone to swoop me into his arms and carry me down the the street to safety. If only my hero would show up. Well, I would change my life. I would.
And then footsteps! The thud of shoe hitting pavement. Coming my way! I fixed my pony tail and scooted, turning to see a group of rough looking guys running up the path.
"You okay, pretty?" The tall one asked, judge-y eyes looking me up and down.
"Fine" I said trying to stand but fell back down with a grunt.
"You are hurt" one of his friends observed coming closer and the other with a grin.
This is getting nasty.
"No I am fi..." The thudding sound of footsteps interrupted me and I turned to see a cute tall prince alluring strolling down the road with his hands shoved into his hoodies pocket.
"Hey please, can you help me up" I asked to his back. He had already bounced past me.
"How mean" I thought.
"Stop being picky" The tall guy said as he scooped me off the ground. "Where are you heading to?" He asked.
"Down the street towards the other neighborhood number 023" I said slyly ready to scream if they make any nasty move.
"Luckily we are heading that way" He mumbled audible and plodded down the street.
Guess am more heavy than I thought.
They kept on talking about about football and many other boring boy stuff. And then girls, clubs and strippers. To be honest, I kind of enjoyed that part of the conversation.
"Yeah, especially the blond hair one, she killed it!" He exclaimed and they chuckled in union.
I took a deep breath as they continued their conversation.
"Here we are" The tall guy who seemed to have a Italian assets said dropping me down at the front of my house.
"Thanks" I mumbled.
"It's okay, just talk care and be careful next time" He said before walking away with his friends.
Maybe it was wrong for me to judge them by their looks, sometimes not everyone with a wild impression are actually terrible, I presume.
I was ignored by a cute guy but was saved by a bunch of ugly dudes. Am not surprised, I had never been lucky with cute guys.
I looked down at my broken ankle that didn't hurt that much anymore. At my knee that was no longer bleeding and staggered towards the door.
"What took you so..." Mum sudden gasps interrupted dad.
"Look at her leg" she cried out.
"What happened?" Dad asked curiously.
"I tripped on my way home" I said frankly.
"Follow me to the bathroom, we need to render some aid to your wound before taking you to the hospital tomorrow" Mum declared walking hastily upstairs.
***
"Ouch!" I cried out with a deep grunt. "Gently mum!" I yelled.
"Am trying" She said cleaning my red aching knees. "Time for your ankle" She smiled.
"No way!" I blurted walking away.
"Clara!" She called.
"We will leave that for tomorrow" I said walking in to my room. I laid down flat.
"Don't forget to take your pills!" Mum yelled from downstairs.
"Jezz...what a day!" I sighed.
After some minutes of rest I went into the bathroom to freshen up. It was very painful but it was worth it, I felt much more better after the bath. I wore my pjamas and ran downstairs, to get dinner.
The sitting room was empty, mum and dad had probably gone to sleep. That means I can eat whatever I want. A smirk formed on my flawlessly and perfectly shaped lips as I took a bottle of Apple juice, a glass of milk, a cup of chocolate chip pancake with syrub and butter, and then the magic touch, the omelet with bacon, green peppers, onions and chadder cheese mum kept inside the oven for me.
"Perfect" I muttered as I walked back into my room.
I drank from my glass of milk while picking up my ringing phone.
"Hey Bethany" I said as I took a slug of my drink. "Guess what?!"
The sun woke me. A stream of light that hit me right in the eyeball. Rude! I yanked the covers over my head, burrowing, but flashes from the night before made it impossible to return to sleep. I pulled the blanket off my face. Squinted at the clock. It was too early to be getting up on a Sunday. But whatever. I slid my legs off the edge of my bed. Rubbed my eyes, stretched, and yawned. I wore my flip-flops and staggered into my bathroom. As I brushed my teeth to relieve my breath of the ick, the event that happened last night came flashing back. I stared at my ankle which doesn't seem to hurt anyone. "Why am I just clumsy" I muttered lifting my pajamas, to have a look at my knee. It was as red as a ripe tomato. "You woke up early today," mum said as she whisked a bowl of egg. That's just her problem, sometimes I wonder what was with her and egg! If not scrambled eggs it would be fried egg or omelet with sauce. We at
The sun reflection woke me up from my slumber. I yawned as I rubbed my eyes. I stared at the window, stunned that I forgot to close the curtain before sleeping. I whirled to gaze at the time. "Few minutes past five" I mumbled as I stood up from the bed, but hesitated When the sudden realization hit me. I took another glimpse at the clock before breathing out heavily. Now am not too surprised by the fact I woke up before my alarm. I walked into the bathroom to freshen up for school. ~ "Mum I think my alarm is faulty," I said, plodding downstairs. "How is your leg?" She asked instead. "Fine" I mumbled, sitting down to have breakfast. "Nice outfit" She complimented, I rolled my eyes. I wore a blue big hoodie and scalloped short which was underneath the hoodie. The scalloped short wasn't my size so it was extremely short, and was hardly seen to be precise. "The only reason am wearing this is because of of my leg"
He raised his brow at me after a jiffy of ackward silence."Sir, am afraid I can't tell you, it a girl thing" I said."About mestruation". A guy from behind said aloud, grinning sheepishly. Guess he overheard our conversation. The guys in class burst into laughter. I tried not to stare at Ethan's direction."Quite! And miss Clara I would love to see you at the principal office" Mr. John said."But..." I tried to protest but he raised his hands at me before returning back to his lecture. Bethany gave me a apologizing look.Great.I sat on a bench opposite the principal office waiting to be called upon, as I listened to my favourite playlist. I just hope I won't be getting a detention. The door cracked open."Miss Clara". Mr. John called, I pulled my earphones off my ears to stare at him, he backoned me to come in. I forge a depressing countenance before walking into the office.~"Were you punished?" Bethany asked,
A smile crept on my face as I remember those memories, which I always find hard to forget. I sat at the edge of my bed and pulled off my snickers and then my short pants, striding into the bathroom to freshen up."You mean you are not coming?" Bethany asked behind the phone."I have plans, sorry," I told her, clenching tight to my phone with my neck and shoulder, as I crammed my clothes inside our washing machine."Umm... Okay, I will tell you everything tomorrow and make sure to take good care of yourself "I nodded not minding the fact she couldn't see me before ending the call, I pressed the on the bottom and watched the machine spin my clothes roughly. After doing my laundry, I arranged my clothes inside the wardrobe. Threw my phone on my bed and walked down stairs for supper. I made a sandwich, took a bottle of milk from the fridge before heading back to my room. I arrange the meal on my bed and took a bite from the sandwich. I chewed sl
A loud groan escaped my lips at the loud sound of my alarm."Argh!" I groaned. Why on earth do schools exist! I squinted my eyes trying to sharpen the blurry images before me when the alarm rang yet again.Without giving it a second thought I grabbed the alarm and tossed it away. I was complacent by the loud crashing sound it made not until I heard a knock. One problem after another."Who is it?" I asked, with a grunt."Tony's nanny is everything okay""Yes! Just go away" I groaned, my eyes were dull, wishing for an extra minute of sleep."Okay, and breakfast is ready". She said.I bolted up, my eyes wide awake. "What did you say?" I inquired."I said breakfast is ready, but you want to continue dozing, so more for me". She said teasingly behind the door.I stared at my rattling stomach. "What did you prepare?""You're Favorite. Chicken soup"I opened the door grinning sheepishly f
"Hey! Am home" I yelled, pushing the door open. Sophia who was busy playing with Tony on the couch, craned her neck to face me."You are back?" She smiled."Yea" I groaned, dropping off my backpack. "So hungry" I mumbled, laying flat on the couch. She giggled."Not funny!" I mumbled, grunting tiredly."I made lunch""Of course, you did" I titled my head to face her. "Were you supposed to wait for me?" I asked with an eye roll. She stood up with Tony in her arms."Sometimes I wonder how you cope when I wasn't around!" She shook her head. "I mean for a food freak like you!" She grinned sheepishly."I made chicken soup, sandwich, and other stuff. Since you are hardly around, paying visits to your boyfriend" I said glaring at her. She quickly looked away, I knew she wanted to crack a joke but I just wasn't in the mood, guess Bethany being absent in school really got to me, or maybe I was just very hungry. As the saying goes, a hungry lion is an angry one."Um... Sorry" She mumbled, looking
"A date!" I thought."You can think about it later?" He said, nervously. Scratching the back of his head. "You should go meet Bethany now".I nodded. "Where is she?""She might be in bronx," He shrugged.Might be? am sure she would be. Bronx river is one of the best place to alleviate, and am hundred percent sure Bethany would be there. We often hang around there most of the time, anytime we wanted to loosen up, it is the best place to stay if you want to be alone. That is, in my own point of view."Thank" I mumbled anxiously. Rushing out of the house. I was short of words.I was about stopping a taxi when Jason insisted on giving me a lift. "Take me to Graham avenue, I will take the subway to bronx" I said after jiffies of ackward silence. I just wasn't comfortable with him. I stared through the window as he drove, I thought he would interrogate me on why I was against him taking me to bronx, but he didn't. He only gave me a feeble nod and continued driving quietly down the road.I t
"Are you going to come to school tomorrow?" I asked Bethany as we came out of the subway."About that..." She mumbled breathing out a sigh. "I don't think am ready to face Neol yet!"I shoved my hands inside my hoodie and breathed out heavily. "Relationship is way more complicated than I assumed," I thought to myself. "So you are going to miss class tomorrow?"She gave me a sluggish nod and pouted almost immediately. "My little baby is going to miss me!" She whimpered, drying the phony tears from her eyes."Oh really?" I asked with a smile."Of course, am the only friend you have!" She boasted, nudging her hair across her ear. "I mean who else can keep up with you," she gave me a soft hit on my shoulder, grinning from ear to ear."Don't be too sure, I have a new friend now""Oh mine, are you being for real?" She smirked, leaning closer."That's more like a insult Bethany, are you trying to say am lying!" I sna
