27: A Mountain Against My Storm

LISA’S POV

The early morning sun crept in through the window, forcing me to stir awake. I opened my eyes groggily to see Jonas standing over me, his gaze intense. Startled by his close proximity, I quickly pushed myself off the floor and into a sitting position.

“Good morning, Master Jonas,” I greeted, my voice barely above a whisper as I lowered my head, the cool earth pressing against my forehead.

Silence hung heavy between us, his response absent. Yet, I could feel the intensity of his gaze, as if it were a tangible force searing through me.

Curious to find out what could be the matter, I lifted my eyes and met the piercing gaze of Jonas. His eyes, dark as the midnight sky, were ablaze with a fury that sent shivers down my spine.

He leaned in closer, his breath warm enough to tickle the tip of my nose. “What were you dreaming about last night?” he demanded, his voice as sharp and cold as a blade slicing through the winter air.
