Just the first day

Gemila held the cup of hot coffee with a frown on her face.

‘Who does he think he is anyways? That I'm working for him gives him no right to boss me around this way or maybe it does.' she thought as she pressed the elevator button waiting for it to open.

A young man approaches her the moment the doors open and they both get in. Gemila focus her attention on the coffee as she isn't in the mood for any conversation.

“You're the new PA right?" He asked Gemila after some seconds of silence. Gemila took a quick glance at him before nodding.

“I'm Steve by the way." He said with a smile.

Gemila on the other hand was no where in the mood for a conversation and so just smiled back.

“I know you're new and all that so I feel like I should give you some info about our boss, so you don't make the same mistake as the rest of us."

Even though she isn't in the mood for a conversation, she needed to know what else aside Harry's attitude had changed. She would be more disappointed if he remained the same old Harry of two years back, she was actually glad he had changed even if it's not a positive one. All she needs do is study him and she's good to go.

“That would be nice." She smiled.

“Our boss may seem arrogant and all that but if you get to know him outside the office, he's quite a character. He takes his job seriously and so you must follow his every rule. Do not speak to him unless permitted, do not argue with his decisions, do not disobey his instructions, do not mess up an assignment because that alone could get you fired on the spot and most importantly, do not fall for him." He said that last part with a serious tone.

Well he need not tell her that as she's already aware. Besides, who would fall in love with that attitude of his? All she needed was some kind of personal Intel not rules and regulations, she already knows how to handle Harry Robinson.

“Thank you for the Intel Steve." She said as the elevator doors opened, making her way back to Harry's office. On getting to the door she didn't bother knocking because of what happened last time so she just opened the door.

“I don't remember this office having your name on it's desk that you can just walk in unauthorized." Came his complaint.

“Well judging from the response I got the first time I didn't think I needed to. Here.." she said stretching her coffee hand to him.

“You're coffee." She added as he just stared at her without glancing at her hand.

“I asked for that like 25 minutes ago, you still think I'll need it now?"

“Seriously? So what the hell I'm I suppose to do with it?" Gemila asked glaring at him. She had to stand in a short cue just to get this coffee as the second floor had only one coffee maker. She didn't want to go further as that would take time.

“Firstly you need to work on your words if you intend to keep this job. Secondly, drink it if you like, you'd be needing it more than me anyways once you start going through these blue prints."

Gemila rolled her eyes, retracting her coffee hand. She walks closer to the desk which had the documents, placing the coffee beside it.

Lifting one up, she silently flipped the pages, studying it's content. Like Steve said, do not disobey his instructions, do not mess up an assignment. While she poured her attention on the blue prints, she failed to notice the hawks eye. Harry stared endlessly at her as she did her work.

He couldn't explain why but something about this woman reminds him of Gemila. It felt like Gemila had reincarnated into this blondy, he just felt so relaxed with her presence alone like he'd known her.

“I think if you should follow this format, you're business would crumble in the next five years." Gemila said forcing Harry out of his sea of thoughts.

“What?" He stood up walking towards her to see why she had made such a remark.

“The first three are actually good but this one, who came up with this stupid idea of home lunch?"

“I did and since you seem to know better, how about you enlighten me. Tell me what is wrong about the home lunch." Gemila paused for a little while before focusing on the little draft.

“You said you're going to have monthly home lunch at different locations for each event, now some people don't have the time to travel each month in a year for just business briefing. They have their families to take care of and other depressing issues to handle."

“What is your point here miss Chloe?" Harry said not wanting to waste anymore time talking about people's problems.

“My point here is that at every business briefing, you'll have less population of attendees as at the last. People would eventually stop showing up unless you make the location convenient for them."

“So what? I just cancel the briefings?"

“No, you can have your briefings but in a particular location and it shouldn't be monthly, at least three times a year. The rest can always be online."

“You know for someone with a dumb face, your brain says otherwise." Harry said taking the blue print from her.

“If that's your way of saying thank you, then you're welcome." She said with a brief smile. “Now if you excuse me, I have other files to attend to at my office." She added before leaving his office.

Harry read the draft one more time with a chuckle.

He'd never thought of that because he's never gone through the blue prints himself.

“Good one miss Chloe, you've just extended your stay."

Later that evening....

Chloe exited the building carrying a slight frown. She had to go through 57 folders, deliver 23 official letters and still write a presentation draft for the next business meeting. She felt like a cat without bones.

“Do you need a lift, miss Chloe?" Charles called out from the parking lot. He's been waiting for her to get out of the building as he wanted to make sure she's alright.

“No thanks, I'll just board a taxi." Gemila replied forcing a smile.

“Rough first day? Don't worry you'll get used to it."

“Yeah right, if I don't loose my mind to that boss of yours." Gemila muttered stretching her hand for the taxi to stop and he did.

“What was that?"

“Oh nevermind, I'll get going now." She said, entering the taxi. “Have a nice evening Charles."

LITTLE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC-NEW YORK

“So? How was your first day at work?" Yasmine asked the moment Gemila stepped in.

“Geez let me sit at least, I'm barely in the house."

“I'm sorry I just got too excited. So tell me, how did it go?" Yasmine asked sitting beside her.

“As expected. Harry being a pain in the *ss and overloading me with work. I think he's trying to test me."

“Did you get anything? Any info?"

“It's just my first day. I did learn he's very strict to his employees, that makes me wonder why he treated me different. I mean I did everything to pull his strings but he didn't pounce on me."

“Well like you said, it's just your first day."
