Chapter 40 - Guilty Conscience

Sienna's voice was ice-cold as she spoke. "I'll wait for you downstairs. I don't want to be in the same room with you right now."

David's heart ached at her words, but he couldn't blame her for her anger. He watched as she left the room, the door closing behind her with a soft click.

He was left alone with his thoughts and fears. He quickly dressed, his mind racing as he tried to figure out how to prove his innocence. He needed to inquire about the hotel security and whoever had access to his room in his absence.

As he was about to leave the room, his phone rang. It was his assistant.

"Paul, what is it?" He asked, his voice tense and impatient.

"Uh, Mr. Hendrix, I... I have the results of the analysis you requested," Paul stuttered, clearly nervous about delivering the news.

"Well? What did you find?" David demanded, his patience wearing thin.

"Sir, I'm not sure how to say this, but... the photos are not fake. They haven't been altered in any way," Paul said hesitantly.
