She was restlessly raking her fingers through her hair.

“When did you guys come in?” She asked, her eyes meeting mine.

“You were lost in thoughts. I just saw Mrs. Carter leave.” I answered.

Was something going on?

“Mrs Carter gave me some sweets' mummy.” Nathan showed his newly acquired confectionery to her, but she was too worry-struck to appreciate them.

“Did she say anything to you?” She questioned, a skeptical look on her face.

“No, she did not.” The old lady had merely captured my entire figure with her investigative pair of eyes, and she had been so adorable with Nathan. Her baby was growing well too.

“Do you know if your father is an old acquaintance of hers?” She asked after a moment of thought.
