Chapter 3: The mark she carried.

The evening came, and Savannah’s friends came to join her birthday celebration.

Everyone was enjoying themselves, but Savannah’s focus dwelled only on Jerry.

“I brought you this.”

He took out a purple velvet box and opened it to show Savannah. Her eyes sparkled watching a beautiful pendant in the box. “May I?”

She nodded, cupping her mouth. His hand trailed on her neck, locking the pendant perfectly. “You look beautiful, Savannah.” He whispered, pecking kisses on her shoulder. She moaned when he slid her dress from her shoulder blade.

“I am...” his warm breath touched her shoulder blade, sending a zap of electricity. His eyes landed on the mark.

“What is that? Is this a birthmark?” He bit her softly.

She turned towards him and licked her lips. Before she could answer, he closed the gap between them, pecking a gentle kiss on her lush lips.

“Savannah,” Sheila entered the space, her eyes widened with shock.

They slid away in fear, and Jerry excused himself from the scene. “Aunt...”

Sheila’s wolf sensed the danger. More than that, it feared what would happen.

“I need you to be in your room.”

“NOW,” her thundered voice was enough to fill tears in Savannah’s eyes as she ran upstairs, leaving her birthday party.

“Sheila, she is just a kid.” Mark was trying to handle this mess.

“Well, that kid was trying to make out with a jerk.”

Everyone left the party, and Mark knew how Sheila handled Savannah.

Sheila despised it; she had to yell at her to stop, but she had to make her understand it was not the right time to give herself to a human.

Like her, she wishes Savannah finds a kind wolf who can take her as his mate, mark her and release her from her paramour bloodline curse.

Sheila knocked at the door with teary eyes.

“May I?”

Savannah rolled her eyes, letting her enter the room.

“Savi... here is your birthday gift.” She extended that treasure chest in her hand.

“I don’t want it.”

“I know you are upset with us, but this is not what you want. This is what you need, baby,” Sheila snuggled her hand into Savannah’s.

Savannah looked at her teary eyes and opened the box.

“Why can’t you let me have Jerry?” Well, that was a straightforward question.

“Because he cannot handle you for what you carry inside.”

Savannah wanted more explanation.

“I don’t understand you, aunt. You always restrict me from doing anything. It’s like you are hiding something from me.”

Sheila cupped her face and rested her head against hers.

“I am sorry. I am trying to handle the things which were supposed to be handled by Amara.” A lone tear fell from her eyes.

“Please trust me. And as the time comes, I will reveal every secret about you.”

“Please,” Sheila begged.

Savannah once again settled with less. “I trust you.”

“Just promise me you will not allow any man to touch you. Call it your mother’s last wish.” Sheila expected it, but Savannah hated it.

“And now it’s time to give you the first revelation.”

Sheila opened the pouch from the box and checked the pills.

“These pills are important.”

“What are these? What will it do to me?”

“The question is how you are going to take them. Savi, you need to take these pills every full-moon night.”

“But why? Sounds like I am possessed by something supernatural.” Savannah chuckled, but didn’t see any expression change on Mark’s and Sheila’s faces.

“I am sorry, but these pills look fancy.” She picked a pill and rolled it between her index and thumb.

“Is this some kind of herb?” Her question didn’t stop.

“Savi, focus,” Mark warned her.

“You promise me you will take one pill every full-moon night. Am I clear?” Sheila questioned.

Savannah nodded. “Am I allowed to ask any more questions?”

“I will tell you everything when the time is right.”

Savannah had lots of queries bubbling through her curious mind.

“It’s important, Savi.” Mark jeered.

“I got it.”

“But why are you giving these to me?”

“Because you are going to university, remember? And I need you to keep these pills as safe as possible.” Sheila swallowed hard.

“You are scaring me, aunty,”

Sheila grabbed her hand as she could hear her beating heart racing like a cannon.

“This is big than what you think, but for now, you need to focus on my word. Never show your mark to anyone. Take these pills on every full moon, and if you find any suspicious thing, you will inform Mark or me as soon as possible.”

Savannah was lost in her tracks to gather the information and process it. She nodded and finally went to sleep, looking at the ceiling and contemplating what these pills meant to her family and how this would hide everything she carried inside her body.

She woke up and ran to see the mark on her shoulder blade; she opened her top and turned to see that strange mark which looked like a red burned mark. The glimpses of her nightmare crossed her mind. That beast bit her in the same spot. He called her his possession. Could it be related to anything?

“What is this?”

Until now, she was never bothered by this mark. But how come Sheila knew about this and how it concerned her?

She took and picture on her phone and zoomed it.

“What the heck is this?”

“Is this a crescent moon or a scratch?” Curiosity killed the cat, and here her mind was pulsating with thousands of questions. With whatever she had in her hand, she wanted to seek answers. She guessed she could not search for the pills, which looked like a small ball of herbs.

But this mark was also crucial for Sheila, so why not try to dig into this?

She opened her laptop and uploaded a picture of her back, excluding her face and background.

She searched, and funny things related to the search upset her, but she was not ready to give up. She called her friend Jenny.

“Hey, Jen,”

“How’s everything? Seems like your aunt is not happy to see you and Jerry together.” Savannah sighs.

“Forget it. I am sharing some pictures; could you please search about it?”

“What’s this about? Are you stalking Jerry or what?”

“Shut up, and search for me. Please,”

Savannah shared the picture and waited for her call.

Jenny is tech-savvy and knows where to find things pretty well.

“Don’t worry, I will come up with something. Are you ready for tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow?”

“You are shifting to the university campus.”

“Oh... yes, I forgot. Yes, I am all set,”

“See you tomorrow.”

Savannah bit her lips; she was eager for the sun to shine the following day. There will be two things for tomorrow: the information about her mark and the university she was desperately waiting to get into.
