“Mate.” Lyle says , while at the same time Adam let out a growl of fury. “No! NO! NOO! Get him out of here and dispose of him.” He said to the two wolves holding Lyle captive. They began to herd him away from the fire pit and into the woods beyond. Amaris was not going to let him out of her sight. She knew that she could not let him die. She started to run forward allowing every ounce of the energy she felt to flow from her. Everyone in the fire pit area stopped and covered their face. The wolves hid their face in the grass. Amaris had begun to glow so brightly that she was blinding. She decided that it was the perfect time to take advantage of the distraction. Amaris continued through the woods with Anna and her family following behind. She is not sure how she knew, but she knew exactly where Lyle had taken Gran. There was another underground bunker in the woods. Amaris led them straight to it, but did not know how to change back to her human form to open it. Anna saw that Amaris needed help with the hatch and changed back to her human form to open it. Her father went out and stood guard in the direction that they had just come from while she did this. Anna held the hatch while her mother, who had also changed back to human, jumped down into the tunnel. Anna called out to her Dad who followed them. Amaris went in and then Anna went last to be able to close and lock the hatch. This tunnel entrance was a lot larger than the one that Gran had brought her to earlier and it had tunnels leading out of it. The kiss started sweet and gentle. As they continued the kiss the magnetic pull they both had been feeling increased and at the same time Amaris felt like she was over heating. The instant desire to kiss every part of him, to be skin to skin with him was over whelming. Amaris had never even kissed anyone before today, and now it was like her body was in over drive. She knew in her head that she wanted to do this with him someday, but she was not sure if it was now. Lyle looked at Amaris. She was the most beautiful woman that he had ever laid eyes on. When he had first seen her and realized that she was his mate she had been a young 13 year old girl. Just starting high school, and just discovering herself. Even then she had been kind, smart, witty, and always looking out for others. Anna quickly walked forward and put the mugs down on the table. “Sooo??? How is it? Did it hurt?” Anna reaches over and pulls the collar of Amaris’ jump suit aside then the other. “I don’t see the mark. Amaris and Anna finished their cocoa and decided to go check on Gran. They went back to the tunnel entrance and found the room that she was resting in. Gran was unconscious and had not yet come to." The kiss was ended as quickly as it was begun. Anna’s father burst in the room. “Adam and his men are hunting around outside for the entrance. I spread the deer sign around as you said to try and throw them off, but I don’t think it is working. They know we are here. “. He said in an out of breath whisper. He clearly had just come back inside from scouting. Lyle had pushed away from Amaris and was now holding just her arms. “Okay get the stretcher ready and tell them to be ready to move.” Anna’s father turned and left. Lyle walked to the corner of his room and pushed on a section of wall. A large hidden door popped open to reveal a hidden space. Inside were two large backpacks. “I wanted to be ready in case you and I needed to escape quickly. I knew there would be people that would want you for their own purposes. Amaris had no idea where their final destination was. They had been on the water for several hours. The sun was high in the sky by this time. They would simply look like tourists to any on lookers except for the fact that none of them had any safety gear on. No helmets, no life jackets, nothing. They only had their backpacks and their paddles. Lyle seemed to have a destination in mind. He led with Gran and Continued without stopping. Anna and Amaris both had paddles, but since the river at this time of year was low and therefore fairly tame they did not have too much to do. There had not been much for rain in a while. Finally they came to a wide bend in the river and a huge sand bar in the center of the curve. It appeared that in times of heavy rain or in the spring thaw this was under water but the rest of the time it looked like it was a favorite play ground for the local otters.
