Kara stood in Ryder's kitchen, her body swaying gently to the soft melody playing through the speakers. She wore one of his oversized shirts, the pleasing scent of his cologne mingling with the sweet aroma of the meal she was preparing. As she chopped vegetables with practiced ease, her mind wandered, vividly remembering the day she first met Ryder at the cafe, it felt like a recreated scene of they first time meeting that had ended in horror.

It had been a rainy afternoon, a serendipitous encounter in the most ordinary of places—an overcrowded cafe. Kara had arrived seeking shelter from the relentless downpour, her hair damp and unruly.
