CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Crystal turned onto her left side, feeling restless. She moved her eyes around the dim room, taking in the few things the small light rays of outside bounced on. She grunted and laid on her back, willing for sleep to take over her senses.

James soft snores reached her ears and she rolled her eyes. She glanced at the man sleeping beside her before looking at the ceiling.

A light thud made her furrow her eyebrows and crane her ears. The sound came again, then she sat up and pushed the thick blanket off her body before getting out of bed.

Crystal grabbed a robe and threw it on and made her way to the door. She looked at James for some seconds and left the room. The confused woman stood in the hallway, waiting to hear the sound again.

After a few minutes of walking around the house, looking for where the sounds were coming from, she stopped in front of the opened house gym. She walked in and gasped inaudibly at the sight of a sweaty Cyrus standing in front of a swinging punching bag. She
