I couldn’t help but laugh at Estelle’s feeble attempts to justify her actions, my amusement only growing when I noticed Mavis, hidden behind one of the delivery trucks.

It was almost comical how the once-bold heir to a fortune had been reduced to skulking in the shadows, his expression one of sheer terror.

Well, I guess the cat’s out of the bag now, I thought and smiled inwardly.

As the criminal investigator made her way over to Estelle, the officer keeping her firmly in place, she tilted her head in frustration and weariness. "It seems like Estelle might have something to say to us," he said.

Estelle, having been backed into a corner with no way out, looked like a deer caught in headlights.

She shifted her weight from foot to foot, trying desperately to find a way to extricate herself from her situation. But it was too late and it was only a matter of time before she would have to face the music.
