Chapter 91

Danciana's POV:

I dialed Dylan's number with a mix of anticipation and anxiety, my heart pounding in my chest. As the phone rang, I anxiously tapped my fingers on the edge of my desk. "Come on, pick up," I whispered under my breath.

Dylan's voice finally crackled through the line. "Hello?" he answered, sounding slightly out of breath.

"Dylan, it's Danciana," I said, my voice barely concealing my urgency. "Listen, I need you to do something for me."

"Hey, Danciana," he replied, the curiosity evident in his tone. "What's going on?"

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing thoughts. "I need to know if your mom, Genevieve, is still at home."

There was a brief pause on the other end, and I could imagine Dylan glancing towards the hallway that led to his mother's room. "Hold on, let me check," he said, and I could hear his footsteps receding.

I anxiously drummed my fingers on my desk again, waiting for his response. After what felt like an eternity, his voice returned to the phone.
