CHAPTER -5 Mate Back

*Kivvi's POV*

I was strangely furious when I found my mate nowhere to be seen. I went to thank her for her help, but she wasn't in her room. I waited for her for over an hour and even called her. The call wasn't getting through to her.

I was worried if something happened to her so, I asked my men to check it out. Unexpectedly, the investigation showed my mate was abducted. I had an urge to break the kidnapper's neck.

My wolf was getting restless without my mate being near me. What if something happens to her? She wasn't strong enough to protect herself. Who abducted her? Was it the enemy? Did she think that my mate is a threat so she abducted her? I knew that the familiar figure on the record was Arianna.

Even if I can't draw a conclusion with this, it's still suspicious. Especially, it's hard to cross our borders but it would be easy if it's our guest. Ryan wouldn't be bought with money. He had enough. So, it should be a deal that he would love and can't get with money alone.

He is a womanizer, and Arianna alone could be a huge temptation for him. I tried my best to prove that my hypothesis was correct, but still, it was all of my guesses. There was no evidence to support me. The men I have sent still hadn't returned. I have never acted recklessly, but at this moment I wished to wage war against the Jethula pack.

Maybe they would return my mate back if I did this? I shook the thought away from my mind. It was risky, I also had no evidence. I couldn't wage a war with just my guess alone, with no evidences. I need to be patient.

I didn't wait for my men to find my mate. I shifted to wolf and went inside the forest. I was at the end of the forest when I sensed my mate. Her scent guided me. It was so strong that I could barely control the urge to mate with her.

After a short distance, I found my mate supporting herself with Stella's help. They both seemed injured, and blood dripped from them.

"Are you okay?" I asked, concerned. She nodded.

"We are okay, but Miss Angelina needs an immediate checkup. She is quite a bit injured…" Stella said.

I took my mate from her hands, and asked, "How did you both get injured? What were you two doing here?"

"Well… I was passing through when a scream caught me off guard. I searched my surroundings and found the cave. I entered inside hearing the screams getting louder. When I went inside, I saw Ryan trying to disgrace Miss. Angelina. I went to save her. We were injured in the fight. But Ryan is dead…"

When I heard my mate is in danger, and I wasn't there to protect her, I felt useless and uncaring. I swallowed my guilt and rage towards Ryan and put my mate on my back.

"I can't thank you enough for saving my mate. Right now, I am sorry, I can't welcome you into my home. I need to take my wife to the clinic. If you wish, you could come with us too."

Stella shook her head, and continued, "There's no need to thank me. I just did what I should. Sorry, I can't take your offer since I am a bit busy. I have my doctors who will check up on me. I need to go now."

I didn't pester her, because I cherished the moment I am alone with my mate. I watched Stella leave from there, and I focused all my attention on my injured mate. "Hold me tight. Don't let go." As soon as she snuggled me around my neck, I started running at the fullest speed, making sure her treatment not to be delayed. Rather than taking her home and waiting for the doctor to visit, I took my mate to the pack doctor itself.

After checking up on my mate, he said, "There is no need to worry. She will be alright with some medicines and proper rest." It relieved me that she wasn't seriously injured.

I put my mate down, in the middle of nowhere so that she wouldn't be too tired from the journey.

"Why did you stop here?"

I was mum. I couldn't tell that I stopped here to make sure she is alright. I also remembered that I had yet to thank her. I put my face another way, and whispered, "Thank you…"

"What did you say?" I expected it before that she can't hear my low growl.

"Nothing…" I gulped.

I wished to give ourselves time. However, my wolf was running out of patience. It wished to mark her, love her, protect her. It also wished to be loved by her. In the end, I decided to follow my wolf at least for once.

"I…" I was clueless about what to say and what not. I have never encountered such a situation before. I never expected that I would be at a loss for words in front of my mate.

The silence followed for quite some time. The situation was awkward with both of us being silent and staring at each other. At last, I decided to speak up again.

"Angelina, I wish to thank you. You helped me a lot by giving me the news about Ryan betraying our pack. It meant a lot to me, and my pack. However, I am also guilty. I didn't take care of you properly. In the end, you got caught by him and got injured." I said it all in one breath. She twitched her eyebrows and stared at me. I slid my face to the other side.

"Only this…?" She stuttered, looking dissatisfied.

I nodded. Did I do anything wrong or said anything wrong? Why does she feel dissatisfied?

"Well, you don't need to worry. I helped him because of my reasons. You don't need to think much about it. Also, no one would expect him to abduct me so, don't be sorry too. The house is near, I can walk alone now. You don't need to bother yourself." She was leaving but I grabbed her hands unconsciously

She looked back confused and asked, "Is anything the matter…?" I put my hands away from her arms and scratched my head.

"There is also one thing… my wolf wants you. It feels restless without you. I get butterflies whenever you move closer to me, even with small actions of yours. I… I wish to give the relationship a chance. I don't care if you are a slave or anything. I want you. What do you want?"

She suppressed her wide laugh and said, "Since you wish that, I would gladly accept it too. Let's give our relationship a chance."

I couldn't suppress my joy. I picked her up and went circles in the forest. I was in an unimaginable joy.

I got back to my senses when my mate winced in pain.

"S-sorry…" I stuttered.

"Don't mind. Let's return now… it's already late."

I nodded in agreement. I was so engrossed in happiness that I forgot to check the time. I picked up my pace and left towards my home. However, a familiar figure stopped me.

It was my stepmother, Jessica. "What a scene. Your mother left with a human, leaving your father in between the war while you were playing, forgetting your duties. You both mother and son pair sure is troublesome
