Chapter-6 Hatred or Love

Angelina wondered why the Alpha treated everyone better but not his own son. Wasn't a father supposed to love his child unconditionally? Then why was Kivvi's case different?

The woods were a quiet place to be and that's why Angelina liked visiting there; to calm her brain down from all the thinking. One thing she liked more about the woods was the end of the woods which was home to a beautiful lake.

She loved taking quick showers after her run at that lake and at night, the lake was most beautiful but now, she was going there just to clear her head and not to run.

She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she didn't even notice a tree trunk in front of her and before she could realize it, she was already tripping against it and falling headfirst into another tree.

"Damn!" Angelina cussed out loud. The pain in her head was making her head throb and the more she massaged the affected parts, the more she felt intense pain.

She hissed as she got up from the ground, dusting the dirt off her butt and giving myself a quick glance, and looking around just in case anyone saw that embarrassing fall. She was about to thank her luck when a voice startled her.

"That was quite a hit," the familiar voice said and she turned in the direction of the voice and it was none other than Kivvi.

A scowl appeared on her face as she used that as a defense mechanism to not embarrass herself further. "It sure was."

"What got your attention so much that you didn't see the tree right in front of you?" He asked and she was tempted to roll her eyes at him.

"Nothing that concerns you at all," she said, sassily. She wasn't going to go down as a damsel in distress today.

"I guess so," he said, lifting his hands up in surrender and she made a move to brush past him and head on her merry way but he stopped her again. "What are you doing here?"

"I could ask you the same," she retorted. Angelina wasn't backing down without a fight.

"You've got balls, Angelina," Kivvi said and she shrugged in response.

"Well, what are you going to do? Report me to the Alpha?" Even though Angelina was nervous, she couldn't exactly show it.

A smirk appeared on his lips. "Of course, I won't. He doesn't need to know that."

"If he doesn't need to know that then we can speak freely right?" She asked.

He nodded in response. "Yeah, you can."

"Okay. Why does your father treat you that way?" It took her a lot of nerve to ask that question but she needed to know.

His left eyebrow shot up in a questioning manner. "Treat me in what way?"

"You know… like you don't matter to him," Angelina said, taking a step back when sne saw the scowl on his face. She guessed it was a foul subject to talk about then. "You can skip that if you want."

"Exactly, I don't want to talk about it," he sneered at her and she shot her hands up in surrender.

"I apologize then. I'm just going to be on my way," Angelina said and started walking away from him. She hadn't taken two steps when he stopped her again. She puffed out a sigh in frustration.

"Stop."

"What again?"

"The Luna requested your presence at the pack house -- the garden to be precise," he let out while folding his arms as though he didn't even want to be there at that moment.

Angelina groaned as she gave him another glance before making her way to the pack house. She didn't move too fast nor did she walk too slow. She just didn't want to have an encounter with the Luna.

When she got to the garden, she spotted her watering the flowers with a little watering she can and she rolled her eyes at her task. What exactly was she trying to prove?

"Yes Luna, did you sent for me?" Angelina said, being polite. 'After all, not every one of us was taught proper home training.' she thought.

She stopped what she was going through and gave her a side glance before dropping the watering can and facing her fully.

"Angelina, I see that you got my message and came here quickly," the Luna said, not exactly complimenting her and she wasn't asking for one either. "That's very good." She added.

"Thank you, Luna," She gave a short nod before looking at her again, waiting to hear whatever it is she wanted to tell her.

"I want you to start working at the pack's kitchen effectively immediately. We seem to be short of staff there, and this seemed like an opportunity for you to learn more." she said, turning back to look at her flowers.

As Angelina stared at the back of her head, different thoughts ran through her mind. How was she reduced to kitchen staff all of a sudden?

"Luna?" She asked, trying to make sure that she heard well.

"Run along now, Angelina," she said without looking at her and she turned to head to the kitchen with a frown on her face.

On her way to the kitchen, Angelina bumped into Kivvi again and he could tell that something was wrong just by looking at her face.

"I take it that whatever she said didn't go down well with you," Kivvi said as he leaned on the door, which was the main entrance into the pack house.

"She sent me to the kitchen to be a cook there. I'm pretty sure that that isn't something to celebrate about," the frown on her face never left and Angelina didn't care if she was sounding disrespectful.

From all she knew, it looked like Kivvi wasn't on good terms with the Luna either.

"I do not like the fact that she made you go to the kitchens," he said with a faraway look on his face.

Angelina folded her arms and shot her right brow up. "And what are you going to do about it?"

"Unfortunately, nothing," he said, then released a sigh afterward and Angelina felt pity for him.

She sighed in frustration too. "If you can't help me, then I better get going."

Angelina left him standing there, looking lost and she shook her head.

"What a pity," she murmured to herself.

Working in the kitchen for hours was draining and at some point, she was beginning to appreciate the effort of the cooks. It wasn't an easy task being in the kitchen and whenever she had the opportunity, and right now was one of those opportunities.

She snuck to the balcony of the pack house and took in a deep breath, trying to calm her breathing. As she was doing that, she heard muffled sounds from the room opposite her direction. Even though she didn't want to eavesdrop on whatever conversation was going on, her legs wouldn't stay in one place.

She moved closer to the door and she could hear their conversation. The voice was familiar and then it dawned on her that it was Jasper and some other people.

"You know, that slave girl was sweet in the middle," the first voice said.

"Yeah! If she wasn't a slave girl, I'd be patronizing her home every day to get some," Jasper concurred to the first voice. Angelina was horrified at what was going on but she still pressed her ears to the door to listen properly.

She heard the guys holler at each other and praise themselves and argue about who lasted longer with the slave girl that was molested.

"I think you lasted more than we all did," another voice which she hadn't heard spoke up.

"Jasper is the man of the hour!" The first voice praised Jasper and she was shocked to her bones at the audacity they had! "Dude was riding on her like he was on some horsepower or something." The voice added.

"I told you all that I would last longer than you guys and I kept to my words," Angelina heard Jasper brag and all she wanted to do was just slam his face against the wall but then what I heard next pricked her heart.

"I was most grateful that Kivvi helped us with the body though," The first male voice said, interrupting her thoughts.

Immediately when she heard those words, her heart sank. Kivvi was among them?
