When Patrick had come to call William, Nifrem had made us listen to their conversation.

" Why are you so insecure?" I asked the rot god.

" I need to be sure no one suspects anything and no one is on to me," he said, and I began to laugh.

" William will get you. He will know something is off." I boasted, trying to hurt the god's feelings and at the same time, hoping I was right about it.

" I do not think William is wise enough to find out. He is too in love to investigate the subtle changes. The only way he will know is if you tell him." He boasted, and I believed him and began to cry.
