My entire world had collapsed. Ellis locked me up in a room, and I did not like it. She claimed it was for my good, but how could it be? My mate was missing. Alex was my life, and I did not know what to do. I hated the fact that I was helpless. I was a bit ill and the mages were trying their best to bring down my fever. Ellis was the most worried. I felt her fear and pain. I did not know how, but for some strange reason, I could understand her plight. With Alex gone, I wasn't of any help or use to anyone.

The vegetation was dead, even the plants that did not need much sunlight to survive had died out, and there was hunger.
