THE PRICE

PETE'S POV

The sun penetrated through the small hole in the prison gate and shone inside the prison. I was feeling pain inside and out because the beating we received was too much. I looked at Tyler on the other side; he was seriously injured and had bruises all over.

We were attacked very early in the morning by the owners of the small house, or, better to say, by our enemies. I watched Tyler fight fearlessly, but they overpowered him when they signalled to others that there was danger when they came out in groups. I couldn't stand up; my leg had managed to heal a little, but I couldn't stand it.

Things were getting worse than I expected, which made me start giving up on finding the children. I wished to find Selena, but that would only be if we survived the prison and if they didn't kill us. It seemed to be a very powerful pack that I knew nothing about.

"I…ne…ed water." Tyler struggled to speak. I felt so bad for him—how humble he became after the beating. I managed to move closer
