Chapter thirteen

Zack’s POV

I didn’t go to the palace immediately, instead I headed for the mountains on foot.

I had my security details go to the palace in their own cars and leave the car for me at the foot of the mountain.

I didn’t know why I was being drawn here since she had not shown up at the palace last night.

The climb up was stressful as usual but when I got to the top it was worth it.

I found her sleeping on the cliff. That was dangerous and she could fall off if she wasn’t careful.

I didn’t want to get close to her to wake her up so I sat on a rock by the edge of the cliff.

“What do you want?” she asked, getting me by surprise.

“You’re awake. I thought you’d be sleeping.”

“Well I’m not.”

“Does my scent bother you? Is that why you refused to sleep at the palace?”

“I don’t think I want to stay in a place filled with murderers.”

There was nothing I could say to counter that so I stood to my feet.

“Let’s go to the palace, I have someone waiting for you.”
